LTS: cover downgrading

What is the problem?

The instructions are fine for initial install or upgrading, but not eg downgrading from 3.13.0 (broken) to 3.12. apt-get install hhvm=3.12.1~trusty or equivalent is needed.

Tried the downgrade to 3.12 on Vivid using apt-get install hhvm=3.12.1~vivid with the following results: E: Version ‘3.12.1~vivid’ for ‘hhvm’ was not found

apt-get install hhvm=3.13.0~vivid works for that version but can't get the downgrade to install using the given command. I realize the Vivid is end-of-life but, as the 3.12.1 was available and 3.13.0 is available I can't think of a reason why the downgrade should not still work.

You need to have the LTS repo as an enabled source as well.
