Release v0.1.0 - Package Rename and Fresh Start
π Major Change: Package Rename
This release marks a significant milestone: the package has been renamed from @hideokamoto/sequential-promise to chunk-process.
Why the Change?
The library has been renamed to better reflect its core purpose: chunk-based parallel processing for rate limiting and resource control. The new name chunk-process is:
- Shorter and more memorable - Easier to type and remember
- More descriptive - Clearly indicates chunk-based processing functionality
- Better discoverability - More intuitive for npm searches
π¦ Installation
npm install chunk-processπ Migration from @hideokamoto/sequential-promise
If you're currently using @hideokamoto/sequential-promise, please migrate to chunk-process:
1. Update Package
npm uninstall @hideokamoto/sequential-promise
npm install chunk-process2. Update Import Statements
// Before
import batchProcess from '@hideokamoto/sequential-promise'
import { batchProcess, arrayBatch } from '@hideokamoto/sequential-promise'
// After
import batchProcess from 'chunk-process'
import { batchProcess, arrayBatch } from 'chunk-process'3. API Compatibility
β All APIs remain backward compatible - No code changes required!
batchProcess: Function signature and behavior unchangedarrayBatch: Function signature and behavior unchanged
For detailed migration instructions, see the Migration Guide in the README.
β¨ Features
chunk-process provides powerful chunk-based parallel processing with:
- π Batch Processing: Process items in controlled batches with configurable batch sizes
- β±οΈ Rate Limiting: Built-in delay controls between batches for API rate limit compliance
- π Retry Mechanisms: Automatic retry with exponential/linear backoff strategies
- π‘οΈ Error Handling: Continue processing on errors with detailed error tracking
- π Progress Tracking: Monitor batch processing progress in real-time
- β‘ Timeout Control: Prevent hanging tasks with configurable timeouts
- π¦ Flexible Output: Choose between nested or flattened result arrays
- π― Type-Safe: Full TypeScript support with generics
- π¦ Zero Dependencies: Lightweight with minimal footprint
π Quick Start
import batchProcess from 'chunk-process'
// Process 100 API calls, 5 at a time
const userIds = Array.from({ length: 100 }, (_, i) => i + 1)
const results = await batchProcess(userIds, async (userId) => {
const data = await fetchUserFromAPI(userId)
return data
}, { batchSize: 5 })
console.log(results) // [[user1-5], [user6-10], ...]π Documentation
