sdm 3.26 - Major refactor

sdm was refactored (with AI help) to improve speed, stability, thread usage and consistency of reported statistics. In effect, sdm is now 2.5-3x faster than the previous release.

In detail:

  • completely refactored Input Streamer, DNA object, task distribution, logic flow of filtering.
  • threadpool implemented to handle multithreading
  • thread safety improved (less potential for lockups/blocks)
  • object churn massively reduced, leading to more time for computations
  • representative DNA algorithm was fine tuned to prefer merged read pairs in almost all cases over unmergable read pairs representing either the same dereplicated DNA, OTU, ASV or zOTU.
