Project Gotham Racing 2 PC port 1.0.2
An update to the unofficial native PC port of Project Gotham Racing 2 (original Xbox, PAL and NTSC).
No game files are included. You need your own copy of the game: an .iso of your disc, or a folder with its
files. The game is built on your PC from your disc.
Updating
Open your launcher and press Update (then Play). It rebuilds the game with everything below. The new
PGR2Launcher.exe here is only needed for a fresh install.
What's new since 1.0.1
- The radio plays in races. PGR2 sends its in-car radio through the Xbox's sound effects processor, which the port
does not emulate, so it was silent in every earlier build. It now plays (clean, without the in-car filtering). - Replays and the title screen's demo, fixed for real. 1.0.1 said this was fixed, but the fix did not reach the
Direct3D 12 and 11 renderers: the depth of field still blurred the whole picture. Now the car is sharp and only the
distance is soft, as on the console. - Wheels and rigs: a wheel unplugged while playing is let go cleanly and found again when plugged back in. Only a
device that reports itself as a driving wheel is used without being set up (a rumble pad could otherwise read as half
throttle and half brake); bind everything else in F1 > Wheel. Out-of-range wheel and force feedback values in
the settings file are brought back into range.
New install
- Download PGR2Launcher.exe below and put it in a folder of its own (for example
C:\Games\PGR2). - Run it. Windows may warn about an unrecognised app: More info, then Run anyway.
- Choose your disc image (or folder), accept Microsoft's license for its C++ libraries, press Build
(about 1.4 GB of portable build tools, 30 to 90 minutes the first time, about 15 GB free needed; nothing is
installed in Windows, no admin rights). - Press Play. In the game, F1 opens the PC settings.
Full instructions and troubleshooting: see the README.
Please report problems with PGR2\play\logs\pgr2.log (the game) or PGR2\launcher.log (building).
Project Gotham Racing 2 PC port 1.0.1
An update to the unofficial native PC port of Project Gotham Racing 2 (original Xbox, PAL and NTSC).
No game files are included. You need your own copy of the game: an .iso of your disc, or a folder with its
files. The game is built on your PC from your disc.
Updating from 1.0
Open your launcher and press Update (then Play). It rebuilds the game with everything below. The new
PGR2Launcher.exe here is only needed for a fresh install.
What's new since 1.0
- Steering wheels and sim rigs. Any DirectInput wheel, pedal box, button box or shifter, including rigs spread over
several USB devices (for example a direct-drive base, separate pedals, a button box and a shifter). Bind each
control in F1 > Wheel by turning, pressing or moving it on whichever device it is on; force feedback goes to the
device the steering is bound to. Every device found is listed there and in the log. - H-pattern shifters. Bind reverse and gears 1 to 7; with a manual gearbox (chosen at Select Transmission),
moving the lever puts the car in that gear. - Ultrawide menus fixed. The title screen and its menus were stretched across the screen; they now stay at 16:9
like the rest of the game. - Replays and the title screen's demo fixed. The depth of field blurred the whole picture, car included; now the
car is sharp and only the distance is soft, as on the console. - Stability: changing the render scale with MSAA on could crash the game. Fixed.
- Diagnostics: the log records more for problem reports (wheel devices, ultrawide decisions, long GPU waits).

Project Gotham Racing 2 PC port 1.0
The first release of the unofficial native PC port of Project Gotham Racing 2 (original Xbox, PAL and NTSC).
No game files are included. You need your own copy of the game: an .iso of your disc, or a folder with its
files. The game is built on your PC from your disc.
Getting started
- Download PGR2Launcher.exe below and put it in a folder of its own (for example
C:\Games\PGR2). - Run it. Windows may warn about an unrecognised app: More info, then Run anyway.
- Choose your disc image (or folder), accept Microsoft's license for its C++ libraries, press Build.
It downloads about 1.4 GB of portable build tools and builds the game (30 to 90 minutes the first time,
about 15 GB free needed; nothing is installed in Windows, no admin rights). - Press Play. In the game, F1 opens the PC settings.
Full instructions, building from source, and troubleshooting: see the README.
What's in 1.0
- The whole game: movies, menus, every race mode, saves, sound, music, system link (LAN or direct IP).
- Direct3D 12 or 11, any resolution, borderless/fullscreen/window, 16:9 and ultrawide with the HUD kept at 16:9,
render scale, MSAA or FXAA, anisotropic filtering, field of view, draw distance, vsync and frame cap. - Races at 60 frames a second (experimental), skip intro, hide HUD.
- Xbox, PlayStation and Switch controllers, keyboard, remapping, steering wheels with force feedback (G920/G923, G29).
- 64 achievements with pop-ups.
- Xbox Live DLC (experimental): Paris, Long Beach and the 16 DLC cars from your own booster pack and title update files.
Known: the game's sound effects (reverb, filters) are not modelled; races at 60 can dip in the busiest streets.
Please report problems with PGR2\play\logs\pgr2.log (the game) or PGR2\launcher.log (building).
