After updating, check your autoload settings. If a payload manager or autoloader starts Tailscale with the console, make sure it starts the new version, or the old one comes back after a restart. The easy way: keep that copy under a fixed name such as tailscale.elf and save the new release over it, or name its path under Payload file to keep up to date in the settings so the Install button replaces it for you.

Updating: from 0.6.0 or later, press Install on the status page. From anything older, download tailscale-0.7.0.elf and send it to the ELF loader (port 9021).

New

  • Reach a device from the PS5. A new panel on the status page for the thing people ask about most: the PS5's browser and apps cannot open tailnet addresses, but they can reach a device through an address on the console itself. Add the device and the port, press Save, and the page shows the address to use on the PS5, for example 127.0.0.1:8096. This replaces the "Extra forwards" text box in the settings; existing forwards are kept and show up in the panel.
  • See how each device is connected. Under a device's name the page says whether the console reaches it directly or relayed through one of Tailscale's relay servers, which is slower. test measures the connection and shows the round-trip time. The first thing to look at when a stream or Remote Play stutters.
  • The page shows where names are looked up ("Name lookups"): the DNS payload on the console, your router, or a public resolver.

Changed

  • A forward can no longer be put on a port of the console that is already in use, such as the status page's own.
  • The project's tests now run on GitHub for every change.

About the files

  • tailscale-0.7.0.elf is the payload. tailscale.elf is the same file under the old name; it is there so that 0.6.0, which only knows that name, can install this release with its Install button. Download either one.
  • The .sig files are the signatures the Install button checks; you do not need them.
