Tapo P110 not supported after TPAP encryption update (Firmware 1.4.0)

The Tapo P110 smart plug cannot be added to Home Assistant after updating to firmware 1.4.0.
The device now uses TPAP/KLAP encryption and is no longer recognized by the official TP-Link Tapo integration.

Error message

Connection error: Unsupported device 192.168.100.110 of type SMART.TAPOPLUG with encrypt_scheme EncryptionScheme(is_support_https=False, encrypt_type='TPAP', http_port=80, lv=2)

• Device responds with HTTP 200 OK locally
• Works normally in the Tapo app
• Another device (Tapo P100) integrates correctly

• Tapo Controller (HACS) is no longer available (repository removed)

Expected

Support for the updated Tapo P110 using the new TPAP encryption scheme.

Notes

This issue started only after the firmware update. The device was working previously.

I have the same devices, P110 h/w 1.0 f/w 1.4.0 build 251020 rel 161559, and this solved my issues.

After enabling Third-Party Compatibility ( App > Me > Third-Party services > Third-Party Compatibility > On), HA was able to see my P110M's, also. Thank you @EstrianTech for the tip, I have disabled auto updates on these plugs.

If anyone else has landed here in the hopes of a fix - I have a workaround to the workaround. That is, if you've already enabled 3rd party compatability and your devices are still not responding, try toggling the compatability to off then back on again.

Something I had to do was reload each device in the HA Tapo integration to get them to re-appear once the Third Party Setting was enabled. Though I imagine a HA restart could achieve the same result.

I'd be happy to say that the latest update (2025.12.3) has resolved this issue. I've added a further 4 Tapo P110 devices and not had to touch the toggling at all.

My TP15 outlets stopped after the most recent firmware release (1.4.5, I believe). This happened within the past week. I cannot use these outlets anymore via Home Assistant, which I use my Stream Decks and Bitfocus Companion. Only TP-Link's own crummy app or Google Home work. I even have the "third-party" option turned on as well and it STILL doesn't work. I ended up setting up a new HA VM (I still have the old one I'd been using), but a fresh install did not help.

Actually, I found a working option. I added it as a Matter device and it works just fine. No silly Tapo app needed.

I am having the same issue. Unable to use any of the TP15 Smart Plugs with Home Assistant.

Any assistance on fixing this would be appreciated as several of my automations are broken.
