The problem

i'm not shure whether it's a bug or feature.
for me it's a huge bug:
the developer tools are now only accessible by clicking settings, swipe up, clicking developer tools!
this behaviour is terrible when using a touchscreen.
What shall be the reason for this change???
if you are a beginner the icon is invisible, you first have to activate the extended view, so why change it?

Developertools are for troubleshooting, testing etc... it should not be done on a tablet anyways IMHO

This add unnecessary steps when writing templates and checking they are correct at least add the ability to add it back into the sidebar , and for checking that sensors have created correctly,

For me, it's the most used menu, on my mobile most of the time.
Putting Testing tools under settings doesn't make sense to me.

People can hide it from the side bar, so please reverse this change!

I miss that one too! Fortunately you can still add it yourself with the custom panel option in your configuration.yaml:

After a restart this will show the developer tools again. Only as part of the regular list of items, not at the bottom as it used to be.

There is/was a LOT discussion about this in the HA discord as well as https://community.home-assistant.io/t/2026-2-beta-week/980381/31 and now in https://community.home-assistant.io/t/2026-2-home-sweet-overview/982992

Really odd decision from the devs, but there is a LOT of backlash to it so, maybe the intended method to add it back will come soon, or at least a revert.

Surprised the feature that mitigates this change wasn't implement before moving the location. Surely it can't have been that urgent to move dev tools to the settings menu? Seems like a bit of an own goal.
