Automatic backup failed after installing 2026.4.0 and history gone

The problem

Automatic backup failed after installing 2026.4.0 and history seems to be gone.

Update went great. But when the Home Assistant should auto backup around 5:00. The backup failed and my history is gone. The failed backup itself is around 500mb smaller. Everything else, besides the history data, in the backup it is just fine. Triggering a automatic backup manually, does not cause a issue. I presume because some integration / automation is running at that time, causing a failed backup.

Happened two times. First I thought, no issues. Because the update went well. And maybe I enabled Purpose-specific triggers and conditions. But no. It seems it's the update.

I think I made made wrong assumptions. I think it's the same problem described in: #167186.

1. Backup failed for some reason.
2. Recorder stops.
3. History seems to be gone.

• I restored a backup, while a restart should have done the trick.
• The problem is since 2026.4.0.

This ticket can be closed or merged with aforementioned ticket.

Update:
auto_purge is causing the issue I think. Not the auto backup or update. I did backup at 3:00. No issues.

My database was just getting corrupted because of a energy sensor from extended tuya. It was not the backup that failed. But the purge and repack. The repack was done last sunday. Every backup until HA core 3.4 did nothing. Ticket can be closed.
