Homewizard: cannot update the authentication method for P1 Meter (Electricity meter)

The problem

after updating core to 2026.4.2 I got this popup:

since my meter is in the basement with limited signal I switched to my phone and followed the procedure there:
press 2 seconds on the button (a bit longer to be sure), but it remained green and when I tried to submit

It gave me this error: Unknown error occured

mind in the bottom it also said connection lost.
When I retried it I got the same error but then also that there was a new version of the frontend available:

after trying to push the button a bit longer and it turning blue, the same issue remained, but no data came in anymore.
luckily after unplugging it, replugging it the green light blinked a while and then turned solid green and it started sending data again.

when I try to connect to http://LOCALIPADDRESS/api/v1/data I saw data, but when I tried via https it says:
Header fields are too long

In the homewizard app I see the software version: 6.0305 and wifi signal strength 46%

I filtered the log to only homewizard and the IP of the device and replaced the IP with LOCALIPADDRESS if required I have the unfiltered log

Wanted to tag along here and just mention that for some users access might not be available after initial installation (this is related to the step "Press the button on the HomeWizard device for two seconds, then select the button below." in the authentication flow for existing users) For example, I will not be able to press the button unless I go through a request for access via my electric power supplier to open the panel by breaking the meter seal.

I don't know what model your meter is, but the P1 and P2 are normally externally reachable without braking the seal. This means you had it resealed after installing the dongle?

Yes. There are various installation methods of course and I would expected normally the port to be accessible. But in my case, in a brand new building - the whole meter and anything connected is sealed. I had to make a request, then break the seal to connect HomeWizard P1 and then it was resealed some days later by electricity distribution company.

I have the exact same thing.
Although my HA is running as Truenas Scale plugin.
Installation method: Home Assistant Container
Core: 2026.4.2
Frontend: 20260325.7
Companion app: 2026.3.2-full (20802)

I can acces the P1 meter, hold button untill flashing blue, but nothing is found through HA. (As 2s doesn't do anything or is too short)

Homewizard App updated, firmware updated.

Manually setting the IP doesn't work through the HA integration. (Used option reconfigure in HA)

I also have exactly the same issue.

Home Assistant "sees" the Homewizard P1 meter - checked with ping in Terminal.

Unfortunately, not able to finalize the setup - unknown error occured.

Logfile gives following

Same issue here, cannot (re)authenticate during the pairing mode.
As d4s1r0 described, the v1 API responds over HTTP, not over HTTPS.

I had the same problem. Found the information that helped me straight away:

Physical Button Press: When Home Assistant requests authorization, press the physical button on the P1 meter, but keep the press short (approx. 700-900ms).

Can confirm @Putte007 fix works. The dongle should stay green. Short press, less than two seconds, around 1 sec.

I didn't try to pair it again with a short press, but since 1/5 it has lost connection and disconnected 5 times. When I went to check on it a red ring was blinking. Each time I unplugged it and plugged it back in it worked again. Now I noticed it didn't ask anymore to update the authentication.

Anyone else having issues since a couple of days? I've sent some messages to their chatbot and they'll get in touch with me, but it said it was busier than usual.
