Describe the issue you are experiencing

The selected default dashboard in the iOS companion app frequently resets to the system-wide "Overview" dashboard.[1] This issue seems to occur when switching between internal and external URLs, such as when leaving or returning home.[1]

Describe the behavior you expected

The chosen default dashboard should remain persistent on the device, regardless of network changes.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Open the Home Assistant Companion App on an iOS device.
Navigate to "Settings" > "Dashboards".
Select a specific dashboard and tap "set as default on this device".
Leave the local network and connect to an external network.
Re-open the companion app. The default dashboard may have reverted to the "Overview" dashboard, but I am uncertain of what are the specific triggers for this issue.

Multiple users in the community forum have reported experiencing this issue. Some users have noted that the problem is particularly noticeable when switching between Wi-Fi networks.
One user suggested this might be related to how the dashboard preference is stored, possibly as a cookie that gets cleared.
Another user has resorted to using a widget as a workaround to get to their desired dashboard.

The default theme and dashboard settings are often resetet in browsers (Firefox) and iOS. It's not only a problem with the dashboards, its a problem witrh the theme too.

Also seeing this since about 5-6 weeks. For me it's specifically happening when using the iOS app. Hasn't happened in Firefox (yet?).
Tried finding a way to provoke it, no luck so far.
Both theme and Default dashboard are reset.

Same issue here, theme resets randomly on my iOS app. Is there any expected fix for this? Quite frustrating.

Uninstalling and re-installing the iOS app solved the issue for me. Hope it won't re-occur.

Also wondering if using a custom sidebar (via HACS) helps. I imagine one could remove the overview altogether this way.

Same issue here, despite the update to 2025.12 (and after) as told here #18626. It happens only on the iOS app, desktop browser is not affected. This issue started with the last update of HA (2026.1).
Things I've tried : set default panel in system preferences and in user preference, clear cache, reinstalling the app. I don't want to use mobile data only as suggested, for security concerns.

I have hid the section on the left rail, set a differnt default view for all users, tried changing my default dashboard, nothing works, its just keeps coming back to that view. never had the issues until updating to 2026.2

No matter what the default dashboard in the settings is, this new "overview" (which is horrible btw) is always shown when opening either the iOS Companion APP or by using Safari browser on iOS. Also, when the screen is refreshed, also that brings up the overview instead of the selected dashboard which was already on. Does not happen on desktop or non-iOS browsers for me.

It's particularly annoying on my wall panel (iPad with guided access) which always reverts to the overview even when I have even hidden that since I really really don't like it nor need any automatic dashboards.

Before 2026.2 everything was good.
