Image Dedupe 1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@howtoexitvim howtoexitvim released this 24 Aug 23:57

Review, deduplicate, and clean up the media on a connected iPhone — entirely on your Mac.

Built on Apple's ImageCaptureCore. No account, no cloud backend, no analytics, no network client.

  • List and Grid browsers with explicit checkbox selection and filename search (name:, kind:, size:, duration:)
  • Conservative duplicate candidates, grouped and reviewable — nothing is ever deleted automatically
  • Download with progress, cancellation, destination preflight, and collision blocking
  • Device deletion always requires explicit in-app confirmation, with a persisted audit and automatic rescan
  • Full Keyboard Access and VoiceOver support for the primary workflow
  • Hardened Runtime and a no-tracking privacy manifest

Install

Drag the app from the DMG to Applications, then clear the download quarantine flag:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Image Dedupe.app"

This build is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so Gatekeeper blocks it until you do this. If you would rather not run an unnotarized binary, build from source — the repository has the full toolchain.

Requires macOS 14+ and Apple silicon (arm64). The iPhone must be unlocked and trusted, and Image Capture / Photos must be closed while scanning.
