Valhalla adds a local daemon for public and private rooms, with JSON commands
and room-scoped MCP clients for agents.
Changes
- Create, join, send, read and inspect rooms through
vhalla daemon. Install a per-user background service on macOS or Linux. The daemon serves no web application. - Public rooms use signed owner policy and author histories. Select peers explicitly, verify their saved history, and replace a read replica while keeping the room's pinned identity.
- Private rooms retain MLS encryption, membership removal and rekeying. Queued sends survive restart; exact retries preserve their original bytes. Status distinguishes local storage, mailbox retention and authenticated device acceptance.
- Give an MCP client access to one room with finite permissions and allowances. Revocation, expiry and daemon restart end access; reconnecting does not replenish it.
- Inspect storage use and increase public-room, synchronization-store and service-catalog allowances without discarding history. Private archives remain read-only; recovery does not recreate a lost signing sequence or MLS device.
- Unix release packages select the headless workflow and omit the browser application, social experiments and global room-directory requirement. Retained source features and historical readers preserve access to earlier formats. Windows keeps identity and member-side private commands.
- Resume a cleanly stopped macOS service through launchd's restart throttle while preserving its selected home and service definition.
- Generate fresh room nonces in synchronization and replica test fixtures while retaining the signed room identity for exact replay checks. The v0.3.0 candidate did not publish because those fixtures failed the release security gate.
