• A port renamed with a space in its name caused script error entries in the router's own log. The manager read that port with the name unquoted, so RouterOS took the second word for a parameter and logged bad parameter ... executing script from sshd failed. Nothing is ever installed on the router — RouterOS calls any command it receives over SSH a "script" — and the failing reads were harmless, but they appeared once each time the device page was opened and then every 30 minutes even with nobody logged in. Those ports also showed no link speed and produced no SFP optical graphs. Interface names are now quoted everywhere: link speed, PoE, bridge STP, SFP optical readings, and LTE signal and firmware.
