Botloft 0.10.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Oct 03:48

What's new

Desktop Use (Windows). Bots can now see and use the apps open on your computer, only as far as you allow.

  • App by app, or the whole desktop. The first time a bot needs an app, it asks in the chat: first to see it, then to use it. Only you can give the whole desktop, in the bot's details, after a screen that spells out the risks.
  • Accessibility first. Bots read windows and click, type, choose and scroll through Windows accessibility, without touching your mouse. The real mouse and keyboard are a switch you turn on per app. Move the mouse or press a key and the bot stops at once, and Ctrl+Alt+Esc stops every bot.
  • You see it happen. A Desktop panel beside the chat opens by itself with the window the bot is using, live. On your screen, the window gets a ring in the bot's color, and the bot's own cursor glides to what it clicks.
  • While you are away. Let a bot keep working in an app when you are not at the computer, after accepting the risks. When you are back, Botloft tells you which apps it used.
  • Never shared: Botloft itself, apps running as administrator, terminals and command boxes, the Task Manager, password managers and password fields.

Bots ask you. A bot can ask you a question and wait for your answer, also from a routine at night. Questions show in the chat and in a question box.

Search across every chat.

Routines can wait for a signal from another bot, and bots can change or delete their own routines with your OK.

The bot's browser

  • Sign in to a site in a real browser window, for sites that refuse automated ones.
  • Teach a bot a task by doing it once in its browser.
  • Open a bot's closed browser for yourself, on the page it showed last, without waking the bot.
  • A sharper, quicker live page that fills the panel.

The bot's computer. Its browser, terminal, files and desktop sit in one dock beside the chat, and an icon rail leads to the app's places.

Chat

  • Reply to a message, or react to one without waking the bot.
  • A run's tool calls fold into one line, and a routine's message shows by its name.
  • Bots named in a message are colored, and memory updates show.

Mascots sleep when their bot is idle, wake, pop in, look at each other and cheer when a bot finishes.

Fixed: an answer given the very moment a request appears always reaches the bot.

Already on 0.9? Botloft offers this update by itself.

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 22:29
0f04429

What's new

  • Any color for a bot. The palette in the bot window now has 16 colors, and "Pick any color" opens a full picker: a saturation and brightness square, a hue slider, and the color as hex or red, green and blue.
  • Try again works after a failed update. If the update installer did not start (the Windows prompt declined, or an antivirus blocked it), the window and the tray icon come back and Try again installs the update.

Already on 0.9.0? Botloft offers this update by itself.

Botloft 0.6.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 30 Sep 03:26
1c5f29b

Pre-alpha. Watch your bots work: a live browser, screens that take shape as they are written, and Botloft near the clock.

What's new

  • The bots' browser, live. When a bot searches or uses a website, open its browser from the bot's header and watch every page it opens and every click. In Manual, Accept edits and Plan, a bot asks you before its first visit to each site. When it needs you to sign in or get past a captcha, click Take control, do it, and hand it back.
  • Screens. Every HTML page a bot writes shows up in a design area and takes shape while it writes, with the bot's cursor on the part it is writing. Zoom in and out, or open one screen at its computer or phone size.
  • Panels follow the bot. The browser or the screens open when the bot starts using them (you can turn this off), and panels slide in and out.
  • Botloft near the clock. When the bots keep working after you close the window, Botloft stays in the notification area, with a dot when something waits for you. Its menu opens Botloft, pauses or resumes every crew, or quits.
  • Windows notifications when a bot needs you and, if you want, when a bot finishes, with an optional sound. Botloft can also open at sign-in, near the clock or with its window.
  • Settings in parts: General (language, what happens in the background), Chat (Enter to send, panels that follow the bot, how long a request waits for you), Notifications, Appearance (theme, size, less motion) and About (versions, check for updates).
  • A new look for the mascot and the app icon, drawn from the flame's poses: stronger light, a drop of fire above the tip, and eyes that glance around while a bot is idle.
  • A new installer. Botloft_0.6.0_x64-setup.exe opens Botloft's own window: one button installs, updates or opens Botloft.
  • Tool names in the chat now show in your language.

Updating from 0.5.0

Botloft offers this version in the title bar ("Update available"). Your bots, their conversations and their files stay. The update runs Botloft_0.6.0_x64-update.exe by itself; you don't need to download anything.

New install

Download Botloft_0.6.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your Windows user only, with no administrator prompt. It is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. You need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and Claude Code with a plan that includes it.

Bots run as your Windows user and are not sandboxed: give them only the permissions you would give Claude Code directly.

Pre-alpha. Routines: your bots now work on their own at the times you set.

What's new

  • Routines. Open a bot, go to Routines and tell it what to do and when: every day, weekdays, chosen days, or every so many minutes or hours, at a time in your time zone. At that time the bot gets your request and does it; the result shows up in its chat, marked "Routine · name".
  • See how each one goes: the next time it runs, how the last run went, a switch to turn it off and on, and Run now. A run that failed puts a mark on the Botloft icon in the taskbar until you open that bot.
  • Sensible rules out of the box: if the last run hasn't finished, the next one is skipped (or waits its turn, if you choose). If the computer was off at the time, the routine runs once when it's back on, not once for every time it missed. A paused bot skips its times.
  • For the crew: the crew's page lists the routines of all its bots.
  • For those who want it, a cron expression under More options.

Updating from 0.2.0

Botloft offers this version in the title bar ("Update available"). Your bots, their conversations and their files stay. Botloft doesn't wake the computer to run a routine: the computer needs to be on, with you signed in to Windows.

New install

Download Botloft_0.3.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your Windows user only. The installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. You need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and Claude Code with a plan that includes it.

Bots run as your Windows user and are not sandboxed: give them only the permissions you would give Claude Code directly.

Pre-alpha. Crews that organize themselves, a model for each bot, a work folder of your choice, and an app that feels alive.

What's new

  • Every new crew has a chief. Tell the crew what it's for: its chief plans the work, hands out tasks to run in parallel and suggests new bots when a specialist is missing. Each suggestion shows up in the chief's chat, where you can change its name, role, model and instructions before creating it, or say no.
  • Pick each bot's model: your plan's default, Fable, Opus, Sonnet or Haiku, below the chat or when creating a bot. The picker shows the model in use.
  • Pick how much each bot may do below the chat: Auto, Manual, Accept edits or Plan. A plan arrives as a card to approve or send back. Bypass permissions sits apart, behind a warning.
  • Choose where a crew works, such as a project folder you already use. Bots put what they make there and read its CLAUDE.md.
  • A new look: bigger by default (with a size setting), rounder, avatars without the black square, and your account at the bottom of the sidebar with usage, settings and language.
  • Motion: mascots blink, flicker while they work, hop while they wait for you and sleep while paused, and new messages slide in. Turning off Windows' animation effects stops it.

Updating from 0.1.0

Botloft offers this version in the title bar ("Update available"). Your bots, their conversations and their files stay. Crews created before 0.2.0 have no chief until you pick one: open a bot's menu and choose Make crew chief.

Pre-alpha. First public build of Botloft: always-on Claude Code crews for Windows. Bots keep running in the background, message each other, and ask you before they change things.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
  • Claude Code installed, with a plan that includes it (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise or a Console account).

Install

  1. Download Botloft_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your Windows user only, with no administrator prompt.
  2. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Open Botloft. It sets itself up and starts with Windows from then on. If Claude Code is not signed in, click Sign in to Claude.

Botloft updates itself: new versions show up as "Update available" in the title bar. Uninstalling (Settings > Apps) stops Botloft, and your bots and their files stay in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Botloft and %USERPROFILE%\Botloft.

Bots run as your Windows user and are not sandboxed: give them only the permissions you would give Claude Code directly.
