Highlights

CLI agents

ClaudeCLIAgent and CodexCLIAgent run the claude and codex exec CLIs inside the environment over its ssh capability. They are registered agent types (claude_cli, codex_cli) for hud eval, create_agent, and HostedRuntime; --gateway routes their model calls through HUD. reasoning_effort on either config sets the CLI's effort level. (PR #624, PR #687)

Every agent carries its AgentConfig as agent.config; agent.dump() serializes it and AgentClass.load(data) rebuilds the agent. create_agent("claude_cli") keeps that config's default model. (PR #624)

Robot direct control

DirectControl(...).attach(sim) serves a robot sim's robot contract as MCP motion tools (move_to, move_joints, move_by), so any tool-calling agent can drive the same environment a VLA drives. Each call returns camera frames and the resulting pose. (PR #683)

Harbor and Compose

harbor.adapt() emits projects that build with docker compose build, and per-task image failures and portless sidecars are reported as task findings instead of aborting the dataset. hud_requirement defaults to the installed hud version. Compose startup waits for every default service with a healthcheck to report healthy. (PR #682, PR #687)

Without run_timeout_s, ModalRuntime allows the task's agent_config.timeout_seconds plus 3600 seconds. (PR #687)

QA checks

hud qa list lists QA checks by key; hud qa run <check>[,<check>...] <trace-id>... runs them on up to 100 traces as one run; hud qa results prints each check's verdict (passed, failed, unknown), summary, and findings. (PR #685)

Model clients

GeminiConfig.max_tool_result_chars (default 64 KB) caps each tool result sent to Gemini. The Gemini default model is gemini-3.1-pro-preview. Image files viewed through SSH-backed tools reach the model as images. (PR #679, PR #676, PR #677)

Breaking

  • ClaudeSDKAgent and ClaudeSDKConfig are renamed ClaudeCLIAgent and ClaudeCLIConfig. (PR #624)
  • An Agent subclass that overrides __init__ must call super().__init__(config). (PR #624)
  • Generated Harbor projects no longer include build.sh; build with docker compose build, and pass env.py to hud deploy. (PR #682)
  • hud qa run takes check keys instead of agent ids, and hud qa results --rollout is removed. (PR #685)
