AlbertCode SWE Agent 1.54.1

Choose a tag to compare

@huynvic huynvic released this 15 Oct 14:42

A small update to 1.54.0: one provider is described the same way everywhere, and two guide pages now match the browser workspace.

What's new

  • The same words for every provider. The browser workspace's Connect a provider dialog now
describes Anthropic as "Anthropic's models", as the classic page and the terminal do.
  • The guide matches the workspace. The Requirements page names the workspace's buttons: Build
    it
, Prove it and Fix it put the request in the message box for you to send, and Edit the
    list
changes the list. The Architecture page describes each part's card, How it was found,
How they connect and Read it again. See
    Requirements and
    Architecture.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/huynvic/albertcode-swe-agent/main/installer/install.sh | sh
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/huynvic/albertcode-swe-agent/main/installer/install.ps1 | iex

The one-line command picks the right file below for your machine and checks it against
SHA256SUMS before running it. To download by hand instead, pick your file:

File For
Install-AlbertCode-1.54.1-windows-x64.cmd Windows 10 and 11 (x64; also runs on ARM)
Install-AlbertCode-1.54.1-macos-arm64.zip Mac with Apple silicon: open the zip, then double-click the installer inside
Install-AlbertCode-1.54.1-macos-x86_64.zip Mac with Intel: open the zip, then double-click the installer inside
Install-AlbertCode-1.54.1-linux-x86_64.sh Linux (glibc), x86-64
albertcode-1.54.1.vsix The VS Code extension: Extensions → … → Install from VSIX

Each installer checks your machine and shows its plan, then asks before it changes anything. It
installs everything AlbertCode needs, including Python, for your user only.

What AlbertCode does

  • Governed changes. AlbertCode plans a change and you approve the plan. It builds the change in
an isolated copy of your repository, runs your own tests, reviews the result and shows you the
diff. Your files change only when you accept it.
  • Three interfaces, one agent. The terminal (albertcode), the browser (albertcode web)
and VS Code. Three modes: Governed, Direct and Ask.
  • A Files panel in the browser. Make, rename, duplicate, copy, move and bin files in the open
repository, beside the chat. Files that look like they hold secrets are locked; deletes go to the
    Trash.
  • A terminal in the browser. A real shell beside the chat or under it, with tabs, in your
    repository.
  • Preview and a task board. Your app beside the chat at any width, and every task on a board.
  • Browser tests. Tests that check your app the way people use it, kept in your repository.
  • Requirements. Your specification as a checklist, with each item's status proven by tests.
  • Architecture. What your app is made of and how the parts connect, from its own files.
  • Visual editing. Click something in the preview, change its text, its style, a picture or a
    video, and approve the diff.
  • Any model. Hosted providers, any compatible API service, or a model on your own machine.
  • Private by default. Keys are kept by your system's own protection; only AlbertCode itself can
use its local service; no telemetry and no account. See the
    security model.

Update

Run the install command again. It shows what will change, then replaces the old version. Saved
model keys are cleared on upgrade, as with every new version, so connect your model again with
/connect.

macOS and Linux (Terminal):

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/huynvic/albertcode-swe-agent/main/installer/install.sh | sh

Windows (PowerShell):

irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/huynvic/albertcode-swe-agent/main/installer/install.ps1 | iex

Uninstall

It lists what it will remove and asks first. Your settings are kept.

On any system:

albertcode uninstall

Or, with the install script:

macOS and Linux (Terminal):

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/huynvic/albertcode-swe-agent/main/installer/install.sh | sh -s -- --uninstall

Windows (PowerShell):

$env:ALBERTCODE_INSTALL_ARGS = '--uninstall'; irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/huynvic/albertcode-swe-agent/main/installer/install.ps1 | iex

The installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper warn the first
time. On a Mac, after the warning, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click
Open Anyway. The one-line install command avoids the warning. See
Installation.
