Description
Currently one can set rules for workspaces on specific monitors and windows contained in those, like so:
workspace = m[$monitor], $rule1, $rule2, ...
windowrulev2 = $rule, onworspace:m[$monitor], $field2, $field3, ...
It would be nice to set rules that match against the state of monitors, possibly with states "p" & "u" for powered and unpowered(including disconnected). Syntax could be monitorsstate $monitorA $stateA $monitorB $stateB ... and could look like :
workspace = monitorsstate eDP-1 p HDMI-A-1 p HDMI-A-2 u, $workspaceselector, $rule1, $rule2, ...
windowrulev2 = $rule, monitorsstate eDP-1 p HDMI-A-1 p HDMI-A-2 p, $field3 , $field4, ...
This could be particularly useful if one has workspace/window rules for a secondary monitor but would like to override them when connecting/disconnecting a third monitor.
Typical uses could be:
- Default monitor for workspaces or even special workspaces
- Larger gaps
- Big boy borders
I am aware this is not a priority and that can be scripted, but having it integrated would be dope. (Read the whole wiki and if I made a mistake and this is possible to achieve already please tell me) . By the way this is the best window manager ever and its not even close.
