Hello everyone!
VxKex 1.2.2.2316 by vxiiduu is here, with a round of compatibility fixes and improvements.
The headline fix is for DLL path shortening problems affecting GIMP 3.2.4, LM Studio 0.3.x, and other applications. This error could look like VxKex not being enabled for the application, or cause Chromium and Electron applications to hang or freeze. The KxSChanl root certificates have also been updated to 23-Oct-2026 to address the eMudhra security failure.
PowerShell users get some attention too. VxKex can now be enabled for PowerShell and PowerShell ISE, allowing TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 connections to work properly for cmdlets such as Update-Help and Invoke-WebRequest in PowerShell 5.1. TLS 1.3 connectivity has also improved for some other .NET Framework applications.
Console Enhancements have been improved for applications that use printf() from msvcrt.dll, such as llama.cpp, and the power throttling warnings in llama.cpp and other GGML-based AI tools are gone. This release also adds Polish and French translations, fixes KOMPAS-3D v24 failing to launch, and adds support for applications requiring IsEnclaveTypeSupported.
VERSION 1.2.2.2316
- Fix GIMP 3.2.4, LMStudio 0.3.x and other applications which may exhibit
DLL path shortening problems. This error may have appeared similarly to
VxKex not being enabled for the application, or hang/freeze for Chromium
and Electron applications.
- Update KxSChanl root certificates to 23-Oct-2026 in order to address the
eMudhra security failure.
- Fix KOMPAS-3D v24 failing to properly launch.
- Add support for applications which require IsEnclaveTypeSupported. If you
saw such an error message, it may now be fixed.
- Improve the Console Enhancements feature for applications which use
printf() from msvcrt.dll, such as llama.cpp.
- Remove annoying console warning messages related to power throttling in
llama.cpp and other GGML-based AI tools.
- Improve the ability of some .NET Framework applications (such as
PowerShell) to connect to TLS 1.3 servers.
- Allow VxKex to be enabled for PowerShell and PowerShell ISE. This is to
allow TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 connections to work properly for cmdlets such
as Update-Help and Invoke-WebRequest in PowerShell 5.1.
- Fix KexCfg configurator not displaying a UAC prompt when needed.
- Add Polish and French translations.
- Fix an issue where the "... not a valid Win32 application" bypass does not
work on a fresh install of VxKex until Explorer is restarted.
- Fix missing translation for "Install" (for all non-English languages).
- Fix duplicate &E accelerator in the shell extension property page.
- Fix an uninitialized variable usage in the shell extension.
- Fix an incorrect format specifier in KxSChanl which could cause a crash
on malformed input data.
