Your items now sit in your hand in the cockpit, and you throw them with a swing. Racers no longer
vanish when you look around, and frame interpolation got a round of fixes.
You still supply your own clean PAL (RMCP01) disc image. No game code and no game data ships in
any download here.
Items in your hand
- Hold your item in the cockpit. Once the roulette settles, the item appears in your hand, using
the game's own model from your disc. It stands upright just above your palm, facing you, and
triple items show how many are left. Pick the left or right hand, or turn it off, with Item in
cockpit hand under F10 → VR or in the Quest app's Settings → VR. The stick and the item
buttons still work as before. - Swing to throw. Take the item hand off the wheel and swing it quickly forward to throw ahead
of the kart, or back to throw behind you, just as an aimed throw on the stick. Your other hand can
keep steering meanwhile. It works with the controllers and with bare hands. It is on by default;
switch it off with Throw the item by swinging in F10 or the Quest app's settings.
In the cockpit
- Racers and objects no longer disappear when you look around. The game hides whatever its own
camera cannot see, and that camera does not follow your head. Now everything is drawn, so you can
look over your shoulder and watch the other racers during the race intro. It is the new default on
PC. The Quest keeps the game's own culling by default, because every extra model costs its GPU
twice, once per eye. Change it under F10 → Camera → Object culling or on the headset panel's
Camera tab. - Bullet Bill no longer fills the view from inside. In the cockpit it keeps its arms but hides
its body, eyes and exhaust cone. Opponents' Bullet Bills are unchanged. - More reliable recentering: the seat and eye position are measured more accurately when you
recenter in the cockpit. - The extra VR steering wheel is now optional. By default you only see your vehicle's own wheel
or handlebar, and your hands reach for it. Turn the separate wheel back on with
Placeholder wheel or handlebar in F10, or in the Quest app's Settings → VR.
Smoother frame interpolation
For those who turn on VR frame interpolation:
- Distant scenery no longer drops back to the game's frame rate when the camera turns.
Particles and new objects follow the camera smoothly too. - Steadier scene timing, which no longer inherits the game's per-frame jitter.
