v1.6.5
What's new
Three new easter eggs — set your task label to trigger them:
| Label | Status ring | Notification |
|---|---|---|
coffee or ☕ |
☕ brewing | Caffeine-fueled session complete ☕ — time to stretch. |
42 |
the answer 🌌 | 42 minutes of deep thought. Don't panic. 🌌 |
debug or debugging |
🐛 squashing bugs | Bug squashing session complete 🐛 How many did you get? |
The original 🍅 egg still works too.

v1.6.4 — Patch release
What's fixed
- Stats heatmap: cells scaled from 11pt → 24pt so the 16-week grid fills the full content width, matching the bar chart below
- Stats heatmap: larger corner radius (4pt) and slightly larger legend squares for a cleaner look at the new scale
- Metric picker: Sessions / Focus Time picker now spans full width instead of floating in the centre
Full Changelog: v1.6.3...v1.6.4
v1.6.3 — Patch release
What's fixed
- Stats heatmap: the grid is now centered horizontally, balancing with the full-width bar chart below
- Stats heatmap: month labels no longer collide when two months fall within 3 columns of each other (e.g. a short February running into March)
Full Changelog: v1.6.2...v1.6.3
v1.6.2 — Patch release
What's fixed
- Stats heatmap: month labels ("May", "Jun", etc.) were truncating to "…" because they were constrained to the 11pt cell width. Labels now render at their natural width.
Full Changelog: v1.6.1...v1.6.2
v1.6.1 — Patch release
What's fixed
- Stats window: closing and reopening the Stats window now works correctly. Previously the window reference was retained but the visibility wasn't checked, so the window couldn't be brought back after being closed.
Full Changelog: v1.6.0...v1.6.1
v1.6.0 — Production Release
FocusTimer 1.6.0
This is the production-ready release. All features are complete, the codebase is clean, and the app is ready for daily use.
What's in 1.6.0
Polish & parity
- Task label field and autocomplete now also appear in the full main window (previously popover-only)
- Break prompts shown in the main window as well as the popover
- Stale DMG binaries removed from git history;
.gitignoreupdated
Easter egg
- Name your session
🍅to honour the technique's Italian roots — the status label and session-complete notification acknowledge it quietly

v1.5.17 — Session Milestones
What's new
Session milestones — FocusTimer now celebrates when your all-time session count crosses 10, 50, 100, 500, or 1,000. Each milestone fires a one-time notification with your total hours of deep work:
"100 sessions completed — that's 42+ hours of deep work. Keep it up."
Upgrade behaviour: if you already have sessions logged, the highest uncelebrated milestone fires on your next completed session. All lower milestones are silently marked done so you won't get a backlog of notifications.

v1.5.16 — Break Prompts
What's new
Break prompts — when a short or long break begins, a gentle suggestion appears in the popover beneath the timer dots:
"Stand up and stretch for a minute."
"Look out a window — give your eyes a rest."
"Take 5 slow, deep breaths."
A different prompt is picked each break from a curated list of 10. No settings, no storage — just a small nudge to actually use your breaks well.

v1.5.15 — Time-of-Day Patterns
What's new
Time-of-day patterns — a new Patterns tab in the Stats window shows your sessions bucketed by hour of day across the selected date range. The peak focus hour is highlighted in the chart and called out above it.
Use it to see whether you're a morning person, afternoon grinder, or late-night coder — and protect that time accordingly.
Data sourced from the existing session log (available since v1.5.11). No new storage.
