Screenshot Brain v1.2.0 — Public Launch

The "public launch" release: a complete product website and hardened APK distribution.

Important changes

Website

  • Complete marketing site at https://iamcipherdev.github.io/screenshot-brain/ — real product
screenshots (Home, Search, Brain Chat, Library, Cleanup, Detail), 8 feature sections, a
"Chat with your screenshot memory" walkthrough showing grounded answers with source citations,
how-it-works, an honest privacy breakdown, download section, open-source overview and FAQ.
  • Download buttons always point at the latest APK: static links use GitHub's permanent
releases/latest/download/ URL, and a small script fetches live release metadata
(version, APK size, release date, filename) from the GitHub API with safe fallbacks.
  • SEO: Open Graph + Twitter cards, canonical URL, JSON-LD SoftwareApplication schema and an
OG share image generated from real app screenshots.

Distribution fixes

  • Signing fix: the v1.1.0 APK asset on this releases page had been overwritten by CI with a
debug-signed build (this repo has no keystore secrets configured). CI now refuses to attach
APKs unless the keystore secret is present — releases ship only from local, production-signed
builds. The v1.1.0 asset has been replaced with the properly signed build.
  • Users who installed the debug-signed v1.1.0 copy must uninstall it before installing v1.2.0
(Android blocks "downgrade" across different signatures).

App

  • versionCode 3, versionName 1.2.0 (no feature changes — v1.1.0 already shipped the full AI
assistant: grounded chat with citations, natural-language search, cleanup v2, app lock).
  • Documentation now states the real minimum: Android 7.0+ (API 24).

Known limitations

  • OCR supports Latin scripts only (ML Kit latin model).
  • AI features require your own free Gemini API key and an internet connection; everything else works offline.
  • The PIN app lock is a convenience guard (SHA-256), not hardware-backed encryption.
  • AI title/summary quality depends on Gemini quotas; heavy batch imports may take time.
  • The app manages copies it imports — it never modifies or deletes your gallery originals.
