Help with opening directories with oil.nvim

I'm trying to use the files picker to open directories with something like:

require'fzf-lua'.files{fd_opts = '--color=never --exclude .git --type d'}

This in theory works. However, I'm using oil.nvim and when I select a directory with this picker, the resulting buffer is blank and broken in some weird ways. According to this comment, Oil is particular in the way it opens buffers. I noticed that instead of a simple :edit call, fzf-lua uses some specialized functions like load_buf and set_buf to open buffers. Maybe this gums up the works?

Does anyone know of a quick workaround to override this opening method? Or maybe to map the selection to Oil URIs? I'd like to keep all the other conveniences of the files picker if possible.

Why don’t you override actions.enter with a function that performs vim.cmd("edit ..") (instead of FzfLua.actions.file_edit)?

I considered that, but it looks like file_edit calls vimcmd_entry which does a lot of other things. I was hoping I wouldn't have to recreate anything inside it just to change one thing. But if that's the most straightforward solution, then I guess I'll have to.

If it’s just for files not much more than e! is needed, the rest are intricacies of fzf-lua, buffers, lsp URIs, dirty buffer switching, etc which in your case aren’t needed, use FzfLua.path.entry_to_file and be on your merry way :)
