ibisOffice 0.8.1 adds the Windows desktop app and automatic updates, with Office-style color palettes, a new Format Cells pane and spell checking in Excel.

Changes

  • Windows: a desktop app for Windows (64-bit).
  • Automatic update (macOS and Windows): at startup, ibisOffice checks for a newer version, downloads it and asks whether to update. Turn it off in Settings; Help > Show Update Log shows what happened.
  • Color palettes as in Microsoft Office for the text, fill, highlight and border colors, and split toolbar buttons that apply the color you used last.
  • Excel: a new Format Cells pane (groups you open and close, drop-down lists, a border preview you click to add or remove lines), and spell checking (Tools > Spelling).
  • PowerPoint: the right pane starts closed.
  • Menus no longer show empty submenus; the Format menu's submenus have the same commands as the toolbar.
  • The Settings and About windows open on the same display as the window they were opened from.
