Moonshade v1.0.7

Choose a tag to compare

@ibridd ibridd released this 26 Oct 18:34

Compatibility and polish release: Obsidian 1.14 and tables.

Fixed

  • Mobile bottom bar: Obsidian 1.14 removed --navbar-background, so setting
    that variable did nothing. The bar now sets background-color on
    .mobile-navbar, the element that actually paints it.
  • System "reduce motion": zeroing the animation speed was not enough — a
    value set in Style Settings wins over the custom property. The media query now
    also sets the durations directly, so the preference is respected.
  • Bases embedded in notes: Obsidian hard-codes the embed radius to 0 with a
    more specific selector than any theme rule. The theme now sets
    --bases-embed-border-radius, so the embed follows the corner radius slider.
  • Tables with unbreakable content: one long word (a URL, a run of the same
    letter) stretched its column and pushed the whole table out of the text column.
    Long words now wrap.
  • Inline highlight and inline code: the horizontal padding left a visible gap
    before punctuation (destaque ,). It is smaller now.
  • H6: 0.75em lands around 11px; the size now has a 12px floor.

Changed

  • Editor tables: the table was forced 32px wider than the text column, so a
    wide table dragged the whole note sideways. It now matches the text column and
    scrolls inside its own widget, and the wrapper follows the table so the column
    + stays on the table's edge.
  • Table zebra: the alternating row was nearly invisible (alpha 0.45 over
    0.22). It is now 0.6, so the stripes read as stripes.
  • Read-mode tables: three duplicated rules were merged into one block. No
    visual change.

Housekeeping

  • Removed two dead rules: a .nav-folder-collapse-indicator transition (the
    element does not exist anymore) and a task-checkbox block superseded later in
    the file.
  • Merged the duplicated .callout blocks.
  • Added section comments for the mobile block, the print block, the reduced
    motion query and the task grid.

Installation

Download theme.css and manifest.json from this release and place them in
.obsidian/themes/Moonshade/ in your vault, then enable the theme under
Settings → Appearance.

If the theme is already installed, update it from
Settings → Appearance → Themes → Manage.

Moonshade v1.0.6

Choose a tag to compare

@ibridd ibridd released this 25 Oct 16:42

Moonshade 1.0.6

What's new

  • Command palette and quick switcher: the modal now follows the theme's corner radius. The search field no longer has a box or glow, just a single line underneath, and the results list has rounded bottom corners.
  • Pane resize handles: they use the border color and switch to the accent color on hover.
  • Settings window: now has a lighter border.
  • Settings in a separate window: now has a frame drawn by the theme.
  • Tasks: the checkbox is fully filled with the state's color, like the completed check, for all 20 states the theme defines.
  • Floating explorer pills: the explorer buttons and the vault profile now fit their content instead of stretching. The --lua-buttons-align variable sets where the button pill sits (center or flex-start).

Fixes

  • Label-style callout:
    • the icon had the same color as the label background; it is now visible;
    • the fold/unfold arrow now shows on collapsible callouts, pointing right when closed and down when open;
    • long titles or narrow callouts now truncate with an ellipsis.
  • Bases table: the corners ignored the theme's corner radius because Obsidian hard-codes 7px inside notes. They now follow it.
  • File explorer: icons are aligned with the file name. Fine-tune with --lua-icon-nudge (moves the icon up or down), --lua-file-icon-shift (pushes file icons to the right) and --lua-icon-size (size, default 15px).
  • Primary button (Save, Create...): it lost its color on hover, ending up with a grey-purple background and dark text, with almost no contrast. It now keeps the accent color. The warning button keeps its red border.
  • Button hover animation: regular buttons lift 1px with a soft shadow and sink when clicked; icon buttons grow 7% and shrink when clicked. Adjust with --lua-btn-lift and --lua-icon-grow. The duration follows the theme's "Animation speed" setting, drops to zero when "reduce motion" is on in the system, and only applies with a mouse.

Installation

Download theme.css and manifest.json from this release and place them in .obsidian/themes/Moonshade/ in your vault. Then enable the theme under Settings → Appearance.

Moonshade v1.0.5

@ibridd ibridd released this 25 Oct 00:50

Monshade v1.0.5

Fixes

  • Reduced !important usage from 20 to 7 by raising selector specificity
    (callouts, table cells, mobile explorer buttons, task checkboxes,
    reduced-motion).
  • Replaced clip-path: inset() on resize handles with top/height.
  • Replaced text-decoration-color with the text-decoration shorthand.
  • Replaced one :has() with a sibling combinator and scoped the
    remaining right-sidebar one to .workspace.

No visual changes intended. If you notice differences in callouts, table
padding, mobile explorer buttons or sidebar borders, please open an issue.

Moonshade v1.0.4

Choose a tag to compare

@ibridd ibridd released this 25 Oct 00:26

Moonshade 1.0.4

A mobile polish release. Desktop looks the same.

Changes

  • Mobile corner radius: the round buttons and bars on phones and tablets (navigation bar, drawer header icons, sidebar toggles, view header actions) and the settings cards now follow the Corner radius slider. At the default (10) the buttons stay round, at 0 they become square.
  • Mobile navigation bar: the floating bar now uses the theme's palette.
  • Mobile file explorer: the button bar in the drawer lost its pill frame (the border, blur and shadow were drawn only halfway on Android) and got side margins so it no longer touches the screen edges. The extension tag (.canvas, .png...) is now vertically centered and no longer stretches the file row.
  • Mobile modals and menus: the pop/drop animation now applies only on desktop. On phones it conflicted with Obsidian's native bottom sheets and broke the drag-to-close gesture.
  • Touch screens: table rows no longer stay highlighted after a tap.
  • Style Settings: the info text now says the status bar, vault pill and tab options have no effect on phones, and the Corner radius description mentions the mobile buttons and bars.
  • Mobile rules are now grouped in one section of theme.css.

Notes

  • No desktop visual changes are expected.
  • Minimum Obsidian version is still 1.9.0.
  • Install by downloading theme.css and manifest.json from this release, or from Settings → Appearance → Themes → Manage.

Moonshade v1.0.3

Choose a tag to compare

@ibridd ibridd released this 24 Oct 09:18

Moonshade 1.0.3

A small maintenance release focused on cleaner CSS.

Changes

  • Minimum Obsidian version raised to 1.9.0 (matches the Bases styling requirement).
  • Removed !important from the resize handle (divider line) rules, relying on selector specificity instead.
  • Replaced the p:has(mark) selector with a rule on mark itself. Highlights (==text==) still get extra line height, now applied only to the lines that contain them.

Notes

  • No visual changes are expected. If you notice anything off with the divider lines between the file explorer, editor and sidebar, or with highlighted text, please open an issue.
  • Install by downloading theme.css and manifest.json from this release, or from Settings → Appearance → Themes → Manage.

@ibridd ibridd released this 24 Oct 08:56
4adc2e5

Moonshade 1.0.0

A calm dark purple theme for Obsidian. First public release.

Highlights

  • 12 color palettes: the accent, folder colors, graph colors and Canvas borders change together.
  • 2 background tones: Deep (almost black) and Night (a bit lighter).
  • Flat layout: joined frames, split side by side or stacked, and a divider in the tab strip. Both sidebars can be collapsed.
  • 6 callout styles: default, side bar, header band, minimal, title tag and shadow card. Every type has its own color, with Portuguese names and a fallback for unknown types.
  • Note styling: headings, links, tags, highlights, tasks (optional Lucide icons), quotes, tables and code.
  • Files and folders: an icon per file type and an extension badge (.png, .pdf, .base, .canvas...), except for .md notes. Folders follow the palette.
  • 21 options in Style Settings: palette, tone, corner radius, text width and size, line height, table spacing, callout style, fonts, scrollbars, animation speed and more.
  • Also included: floating status bar, vault profile pill, window buttons, tooltips and menus, command palette and modals, light paper when printing, reduced motion support, phone and tablet tweaks, and styling for Canvas, Bases and the Kanban plugin (best effort: these depend on Obsidian internals and plugins).

  1. In Obsidian, open Settings → Appearance → Themes → Manage and search for Moonshade.
  2. Or install it manually: copy theme.css and manifest.json to <vault>/.obsidian/themes/Moonshade/, then pick Moonshade under Appearance → Themes.
