ferestre 0.1.9

Choose a tag to compare

@icex icex released this 13 Oct 16:17

Ferestre 0.1.9 pairs with runtime 11.0.20261013.3.

  • Forza Horizon 6 is Playable. Gameplay beyond the intro and Continue after normal exit are player-confirmed. Native PlayFab file saves, shutdown uploads and concurrent queue iterators are implemented.
  • Dune: Awakening is Playable, confirmed by the player.
  • Game Pass tier refresh, complete catalog search/paging and playable status in results are improved.
  • Active downloads show a disabled Installing.. button and block other install/update actions.
  • The bundled Xbox service has a private, versioned socket, preserving older sessions. Upgrade and relaunch Ferestre to use the matching service.

Known limitation: Forza's in-game marketplace recovery remains unconfirmed. The matching runtime/service pair passes real Microsoft catalog probes, including the exact product IDs from the failing game trace. Purchases and crash-time background save uploads remain unsupported. Full online-mode coverage remains unverified.

Download the AppImage, make it executable and run it; or extract the tarball and run usr/bin/ferestre. The runtime is a separate download. Install or upgrade it with ferestre install-runtime.

The hosted release build passed and both assets were checksum-verified locally. All hosted Rust, GUI smoke, patch/service and compatibility checks pass. The production and packaging files at the release tag match the hosted artifact build; subsequent commits only correct the offline GUI fixture. See release qualification for live evidence and regression scope.

runtime 11.0.20261013.3

Choose a tag to compare

@icex icex released this 13 Oct 16:00

Runtime 11.0.20261013.3 pairs with Ferestre 0.1.9.

Forza Horizon 6 gameplay and Continue after normal exit are player-confirmed. This runtime implements the concurrent queue iterators used after shader compilation, bridges the title-matched native PlayFab file-save SDK, and completes normal shutdown uploads before closing save handles. Older save and queue paths passed regression checks.

The opt-in Store catalog bridge returns live Microsoft product data and paging. The matching runtime/service pair returned all 28 Forza add-ons in a real Windows API probe, including through Proton in the actual title prefix. Marketplace UI recovery is still unconfirmed; purchases and crash-time background cloud uploads remain unsupported. Upgrade both the launcher and runtime and relaunch Ferestre to use its bundled matching service.

Install with ferestre install-runtime, or extract the archive into ~/.steam/steam/compatibilitytools.d/.

This artifact was packaged from the locally qualified runtime. It contains 45 measured capabilities. Source is the pinned Proton/Wine/XGameRuntime baseline plus this release's published patch series:

ferestre 0.1.5

Choose a tag to compare

@icex icex released this 10 Oct 14:50
8d04c95

Halo Infinite campaign now runs through its original Store bootstrapper. Licensed executable images are presented at their installed paths in a private tmpfs namespace that survives the campaign process handoff; the installed encrypted package remains unchanged. Child processes inherit the package manifest.

Update both launcher 0.1.5 and runtime 11.0.20261010.1. The runtime is released separately; run ferestre install-runtime. Halo requires Python 3, util-linux and enabled unprivileged user/mount namespaces. Remove or refresh older personal Halo recipe overrides, which take precedence over shipped recipes.

Campaign, Academy, multiplayer and saving have live confirmation. The occasional Halo offline indicator remains unresolved. Dungeons saving was confirmed after finishing the opening tutorial. Goat Simulator 3 works offline (player-confirmed). Its sign-in and Store crashes were fixed, but an online-enabled new-world loading test stalled; its recipe records playable-with-issues and investigation is paused.

Title actions no longer reset the library scroll position. The built GUI regression reproduced 200 → 0 before the fix and verified 200 → 200 afterward. Section/page/search changes still start at the top. Hollow Knight: Silksong is marked playable based on the player's confirmation.

Recipes, compatibility matrix, dependencies, troubleshooting, roadmap and AUR release metadata are updated. Recipe environment parsing accepts the documented environment alias alongside canonical env.

Validation: 255 Rust tests, format/Clippy, built GTK accessibility smoke test, five real namespace/lifecycle tests plus manifest inheritance, 216 runtime compatibility checks and 46 strict queue checks. The AppImage mounts and reports the correct packaged version.

Asset Use
ferestre-0.1.5-x86_64.AppImage Make executable and run; includes launcher, recipes and Xodus client.
ferestre-0.1.5-x86_64.tar.zst Extract and run ferestre-0.1.5/usr/bin/ferestre.
SHA256SUMS Verify downloads.

The runtime is downloaded separately. You must own the games or have the required subscription. Cloud saves, purchases and Goat co-op/voice are unqualified. See release qualification for the complete evidence scope.

ferestre 0.1.4

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Oct 08:58

The Runtime section now shows the current Ferestre release version first, above the patched Proton runtime. The GUI and CLI use the same version source, including the version stamped into an AppImage.

This is a launcher update. Continue using runtime 11.0.20261010 or newer for Minecraft Dungeons II support.

Downloads include the GUI, CLI and bundled Xodus client/service:

  • ferestre-0.1.4-x86_64.AppImage: make executable and run.
  • ferestre-0.1.4-x86_64.tar.zst: extract and run usr/bin/ferestre-gui or usr/bin/ferestre.
  • SHA256SUMS: checksums for both downloads.

Validation: all 254 workspace tests and the GUI smoke test passed, including the packaged version display and its placement before Proton. GitHub's Rust, GUI and patch checks and the release workflow passed. Both downloaded assets passed checksum verification and reported version 0.1.4; the downloaded GUI passed the full smoke test.

Changes: v0.1.3...v0.1.4

runtime 11.0.20261010.2

Choose a tag to compare

@icex icex released this 10 Oct 21:45
a261feb

Runtime 11.0.20261010.2 is 11.0.20261010.1 with three binaries rebuilt:

  • xgameruntime.dll (GDK patches 0001–0027): the complete 50-slot IXGameSaveImpl4 save interface. Legacy local saves work through it; the PlayFab cloud-save operations fail with E_NOTIMPL and nothing claims cloud synchronization. Goat Simulator 3 asks for this interface and, without it, never wrote a save.
  • d3d12core.dll / d3d12.dll (x86_64 vkd3d-proton, patch 0001): VKD3D_CONFIG=retain_recording_allocators keeps a command allocator released mid-recording alive until its list resets. Without the setting the list is invalidated and Close fails with a logged error instead of ending a null Vulkan command buffer. Retro Classics needs it.

Update the launcher to 0.1.6 as well: it requires this runtime for Goat Simulator 3 and applies the vkd3d setting to Retro Classics and other Ultralight/WebCore titles. Install with ferestre install-runtime; existing runtime versions are retained.

Retro Classics is playable (player-confirmed). Goat Simulator 3 offline: a new game reached the world, played, autosaved, and the save reloaded after a relaunch. With online features enabled Goat's world still stalls after loading, and its Quit Game leaves the process running; both are open.

Validation: 259 GDK checks and 46 strict manual-queue checks, including the interface4 slot positions and a container round trip; the allocator lifetime test on a real GPU (14 checks with retention, 9 without). All 40 capabilities are measured in the shipped binaries.

This asset was packaged locally from the published runtime-11.0.20261010.1, replacing only the three rebuilt DLLs and regenerating the capability manifest. All other files match the base. build-info.json records provenance. Full source and patches are published at this tag and remain reproducible through the Runtime workflow.

runtime 11.0.20261010.1

Choose a tag to compare

@icex icex released this 10 Oct 14:50
8d04c95

Runtime 11.0.20261010.1 adds GDK patches 0022–0026 for Halo Infinite campaign and shared runtime defects:

  • Correct user, save-provider and quota async result sizes/payloads.
  • Opt-in owner-thread dispatch for manual queues, including composite endpoints, delayed callbacks and cancellation (XGR_STRICT_MANUAL_QUEUES=1 in Halo's recipe).
  • Full Windows.Desktop analytics family for native PlayFab Party initialization.
  • Store product/metadata lifetime tied to the product query handle.

Update the launcher to 0.1.5 as well for Halo's private licensed-image view and package-manifest inheritance. Install with ferestre install-runtime; existing runtime versions are retained.

Halo campaign, training, multiplayer and saving have live confirmation. Goat Simulator 3 works offline (player-confirmed) and now signs in online, but an online-enabled San Angora new-world loading test stalled; online co-op is unqualified and debugging is paused. The intermittent Halo offline indicator remains unresolved. Dungeons saving was confirmed after tutorial completion.

Validation: 216 compatibility checks, 46 strict manual-queue checks, Wine -Werror compilation of changed GDK files, before/after Store lifetime regression and native Party initialization. All 38 capabilities are measured in the shipped binaries.

This initial asset was packaged locally from the published runtime-11.0.20261010 base, replacing only the rebuilt GDK DLL and Unix library and regenerating the capability manifest. All other runtime binaries matched the base by checksum. build-info.json records provenance. Full source and patches are published at this tag and remain reproducible through the Runtime workflow.

ferestre 0.1.3

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 23:44

Store licence tokens are now fetched asynchronously through the Rust service, with bounded waits, response validation and redirects disabled. Update the launcher and runtime together.

Minecraft Dungeons II support includes the licence service, UTF-16 user-token correction, Wine's upstream WinHTTP option-140 backport and a fix for the observed hang on exit. The new game recipe documents the bundled Visual C++ installer; Microsoft's original XCurl is retained.

Live validation covered Dungeons sign-in, Squid Coast gameplay, saved-hero relaunch and normal menu exit, plus Forza Horizon 5 licence retrieval, restored career/free roam and normal exit. Multiplayer, cloud synchronization, long sessions and performance remain unqualified. The published runtime passed all 194 synthetic HTTPS checks; all 254 workspace tests and hosted PR checks passed. Downloaded launcher checksums, version commands and GUI smoke test also passed.

The AppImage and archive include the launcher and Xodus client/service. The runtime is downloaded separately through Ferestre; use runtime 11.0.20261010 or newer for this fix.

  • ferestre-0.1.3-x86_64.AppImage: make executable and run.
  • ferestre-0.1.3-x86_64.tar.zst: extract and run usr/bin/ferestre or usr/bin/ferestre-gui.
  • SHA256SUMS: checksums for both downloads.

Implementation and qualification: #2

A final launch through the released AppImage automatically selected the new runtime, restored the saved Dungeons hero and quit normally with exit code zero. Both downloaded components were verified after publication.
