Aurora 2026.10.09: M3 Air GPU activation
Current14 Air startup report: #35 reports GPU device-control startup failure on this release, with the desktop falling back to software. GPU/PMP dependency and Omarchy Limine-lock corrections are being prepared; repeated rebooting is not a remedy for that reported failure.
Experimental GPU acceleration for the 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air, using each Mac’s own supported 14.8.3 firmware and calibration. This matched update includes kernel/headers, m1n1 Aurora15 and Mesa.
curl -fsSL https://github.com/iconidentify/aurora-linux/releases/latest/download/install-aurora-sep.sh | bash -s -- --m3-gpuReboot, log into your desktop, then run aurora-m3-gpu-check. It verifies actual OpenGL pixel readback and legacy Vulkan compute readback. The installer retains a GPU-off fallback.
- Adds the 15-inch Air’s native internal panel and current14 GPU/PMP handoff.
- Includes the Air night-light notification fix.
- Keeps the separate J613 25G83 native OpenGL-only profile; Vulkan is unavailable there. No firmware migration is required for the current14 route.
- Brightness controls remain a known issue tracked in #80.
400 installer tests passed with one existing skip. The GPU checker passed in the existing M3 Pro desktop. This exact release has not been boot-tested on an Air here.
Release names now use dates: 2026.10.09 follows 12.6. Kernel packages are 7.1.12.aurora2-20261009.1; checksums and the exact matched package list are attached.
