Trayfinder 0.1.0

@idestis idestis released this 27 Sep 16:28

The first release of Trayfinder: every menu bar icon, one keystroke away.

Install: download Trayfinder.dmg below, open it and drag Trayfinder to Applications. On first launch, allow Accessibility access. Trayfinder uses it to read and open your menu bar icons, nothing else.

What it does

  • Press ⌃⌥T or click the Trayfinder icon. A dropdown lists the icons that are out of sight, most used first.
  • Type a few letters to find any menu bar icon. ↵ or ⌘1–9 opens its menu, even when it's behind macOS's « overflow arrow or under the notch.
  • ⌘P makes an icon a favourite, so it stays right next to Trayfinder, always in sight.
  • Keyboard-first settings (j/k, ↵, h), a reassignable shortcut and open at login.

Free and open source. No account and no analytics; the only network request is the update check. Requires macOS 14 or later. Notarized by Apple, and updates arrive automatically.
