What's Changed

Edit values in a table

  • Edit in the grid. On a writable connection, select a cell and press Enter or F2, double-click it, or start typing. What you type is checked against the column's type before anything is sent.
  • Edit in the row panel. Click a value there to change it in place. Long text and JSON documents get a tall field.
  • Nothing is written until you save. Changes stay pending, and a bar under the grid offers Save, Review SQL and Discard all. A save writes every change in one transaction: all of them or none.
  • Review SQL shows the statements a save will run before it runs them, and Copy SQL copies them.
  • A save does not overwrite someone else's change. If a row changed on the server after you loaded it, nothing is written and you see what you loaded, what the server holds now and your values side by side, then choose which to keep.
  • Production asks first. A save to a production connection shows every statement and waits for a yes.

Adding, duplicating and deleting rows are not built yet. A table needs a primary key or a unique index to be edited, and views, key columns, computed columns and binary values stay read-only.

Writable connections

Open read-only in the connection dialog can now be turned off. It is on by default for production and off for the other environments.

When you upgrade: a saved connection that is not production opens read-write from its next connect. Tick Open read-only on any connection you want kept as it was.

The SQL editor can write

  • A switch in the toolbar (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+M) sets a tab to Read-only or Read-write.
  • A read-write run that changes data is one transaction. It is committed when every statement succeeded and rolled back on the first error, on cancel and on timeout. Messages say which, and how many rows each statement changed.
  • A new tab opens in Read-write on a writable connection that is not production. On production the editor still runs read-only.
  • BEGIN, COMMIT, ROLLBACK and other statements that would leave the run's transaction are refused before anything runs.
  • On MySQL the server commits CREATE, ALTER and DROP as they run, so they cannot be rolled back. The messages say which lines were written.

Settings

  • A Settings window (Cmd/Ctrl+,, and in the macOS app menu) for rows per page, timestamp precision, digit grouping and value tags. Changes apply at once. The Omarchy look has its own Settings screen.
  • Edits to settings.toml apply while the app runs, whichever editor made them.
  • A settings.toml that is a symbolic link stays one, so dotfiles kept with GNU Stow, dotbot or chezmoi keep working.

Smaller changes

  • Dropdowns and menus are redrawn: the choice in use has a check mark, and the pointer and the keyboard highlight a row the same way.
  • The bar of pending changes fits a narrow window. Its text shortens first, then its buttons move into a … menu.
  • Buttons show that they are held down.
