@ilfelice ilfelice released this 22 Oct 12:30

Since 0.3.2:
Printer detection made more robust. The search query is now repeated, so a single lost packet no longer leaves the list empty, and printers that answer without stating their own address are now listed instead of having to be added by IP address.

Printers confirmed working so far: Epson EW-M630T (network and USB), HP Envy, Brother HL-L3210CW and MFC-L3720CDW.

Brother owners: please try adding the printer again from the list, and report results at Haiku forums.

To install: pkgman install ipp_everywhere-0.3.3-1-x86_64.hpkg (or double-click the package).

0.3.2 (test build): HTTP/1.1 transport

Pre-release

@ilfelice ilfelice released this 16 Oct 06:12

Since 0.3.1:

Transport now sends HTTP/1.1 and reads chunked replies. Printers that refuse HTTP/1.0 (reported with an HP Envy: “505 HTTP Version Not Supported”) can now print. Network and USB share the same HTTP code.
Documentation updated (URF, add-printer behaviour).

Printers confirmed working: Epson EW-M630T (network and USB). Reports from other models welcome, HP in particular.

To install, pkgman install ipp_everywhere-0.3.2-1-x86_64.hpkg (or double-click the package).

Since 0.2.3:

  • URF (Apple raster) output added for printers that don't accept PWG Raster. Verified on a printer offering both; reports from URF-only printers are especially welcome.
  • "Raster format" menu in the add-printer dialog to force PWG Raster or URF where the printer offers both.
  • Enter in the URL field now queries the printer.

Test build of the IPP Everywhere printer driver for Haiku x86_64, with the "IPP (network or USB)" transport.

  • Transport check added to avoid pairing the driver with Haiku's raw transports, which can result in garbage text being printed. Transport renamed to "IPP (network or USB)" to make the right transport choice more obvious in the UI.
  • Printer detection window UI polished: "Add printer" button, enabled only with a selection or a typed URL; "Search again" resets the selection.
