• All messages are encrypted end-to-end — chats protected in transit and at rest
• HMAC-SHA256 unlock keys; vault password verified server-side only
• Sessions and unlock keys stored in macOS Keychain

• API rate limits, tier gating, and restricted CORS on the edge
• Privacy mode skips cloud API and sync entirely
