Jouele 4.0
Jouele hasn’t been updated for years because it’s been good already. But one thing bothered me: it wasn’t very good at requesting ranges of long audio and would sometimes wait for the whole file to download before starting playback.
So, the changes:
- improved long-audio seeking: the browser can request the relevant HTTP byte range instead of waiting for earlier audio to download
- better Opera compatibility
data-static="true": the player renders normally but never loads or plays audio (useful for screenshot generation)- restored the broken
setOptions()support for updating initialized players
Also, long time ago, Jouele has brought former Jouele Pro capabilities into the main package, but there was no release for that change, so why not mention those capabilities:
- standalone, track-specific, and global controls
- shared track state, playlists, history, callbacks, and DOM events
- configurable spacebar control and expanded player options
