The first release with downloads: a ready-made Mac app and a signed Android APK.

New

  • Clipboard sync, on every controller. Off until you switch it on. What you copy on your device goes to the Mac; the Mac's clipboard comes to a device only if that Mac shares it with that device, a per-device switch that is off by default. Text only.
  • Found from anywhere over Tailscale. A Mac announces its Tailscale addresses on the local network, so a device that has been home with it finds it away from home, even if it was paired while Tailscale was off.
  • Text selection in the Android terminal. Long-press a word, drag the handles, then Copy, Paste or Select all.
  • Downloads. The Mac app as a zip with an installer, and the Android app as an APK signed with the project's release key.

Fixed

  • On the iPhone, the first clipboard sent after switching sync on could be dropped by the Mac.

Install

  • Mac (macOS 14+, Apple silicon): unzip OwnDesk-0.4.0-macos.zip and follow INSTALL.txt inside. The app is signed without an Apple certificate, so you clear the download mark once.
  • Android (8+): open OwnDesk-0.4.0-android.apk on the phone and allow installing from that source. A copy you built yourself has a different key: uninstall it first, then pair again.
  • iPhone: built from source with your own Apple ID, see the README, section 6.4.

SHA256SUMS.txt lists each file's checksum.
