Mobile app: Settings - External network urls are not saved unless endpoint is reachable

I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.

The bug

URL(s) entered in Settings/External Networks are not saved if server is not reachable.
eg. VPN tunnel down, mobile/wifi data off, split DNS without firewall hairpin enabled,

Reproduction steps

1. Ensure server is not reachable in your current environment. VPN down, wifi, mobile networking off, etc.
2. App/Settings/Automatic URL Switching - on
3. Enter External Network URL
4. result -> red exclamation dot
5. navigate away and return - entry is gone
6. Note: works as expected when server IS reachable
   ...

Is this really an issue? I would think confirming that a connection works would be a helpful feature.

It's not a major issue but would be helpful when configuring offline.
Save the entry and show the red/green icons when it comes into play.

How was this closed if the configuration is there but it is not working? External networks are not saved, if the feature is not planned then the networking section from the app should be removed

To demonstrate the behavior in the mobile app (Android for me) go to Settings, Networking. Enable Automatic URL Switching. Enter a bogus (unreachable) endpoint in the external network section. You will get a red "!" If you then navigate away from the panel and return, the endpoint info you entered will be gone.

In my case, I entered an endpoint that WOULD HAVE been valid if I were on an external network. But because I configured it from inside my firewall it was not reachable due to split DNS, port forwarding, & VPN tunneling. The design decision is to not save the endpoint if it is not reachable.

Overall, not a huge issue. You have bigger issues to deal with and I thank you for your time and effort in developing this application!
