v0.3.0 — Signed & notarized
Kolon is now signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple — no more right-click-to-open dance on first launch. Tickets are stapled, so Gatekeeper passes even offline.
New: drag-install DMG. A universal disk image with a little easter egg: the temple on the background is missing a column, and the Applications folder sits right in the gap — drag the column into place to install.
- Homebrew (recommended, installs a lean single-architecture build):
brew install --cask inanalper/tap/kolon - Direct download: grab
Kolon-0.3.0.dmgbelow (universal, works on Apple Silicon and Intel).
The app itself is unchanged from v0.2.4.

v0.2.4
What's new
- Multi-line values are now legible: cells containing newlines or tabs show them as visible escapes (
\n,\r\n,\t) instead of silently cutting at the first line — hover still reveals the real multi-line value. - Row copy no longer loses data: copying selected rows (⌘C) re-reads truncated long cells from the file in full instead of shipping the 300-character preview cut.
- Fixed a CSV quoting bug where values whose only line breaks were CRLF pairs could leak unquoted into the copied CSV.
Install
brew install inanalper/tap/kolon
v0.2.3.1
What's new
- Cell-level selection: a single click now highlights just the clicked cell (⌘C copies its raw value). Click the row-number column — or shift/⌘-select — for whole-row selection; ⌘C then copies rows as CSV.
- Snappier clicks: selection is applied and painted on mouse-down, and repaints are limited to the affected rows (matters on very wide files).
Install
brew install --cask inanalper/tap/kolon
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Kolon.appv0.2.3
What's new
- ⌘C copy in previews: copy the clicked cell's value as-is (long cells are copied in full, beyond the 300-char preview cut), or select multiple rows to copy them as CSV (RFC 4180 quoting, NULL as empty field).
- Fixes a crash where pressing ⌘C in a preview killed the Quick Look process via an infinite recursion inside QuickLookUI.
Install
brew install --cask inanalper/tap/kolon
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Kolon.appKolon 0.2.2
What's new
- Host app window now shows the app icon and current version
- Closing the host app window quits the app instead of leaving it in the Dock
Install
brew install --cask inanalper/tap/kolon
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Kolon.app # until notarization landsKolon 0.2.1
What's new
- Full cell contents on hover — cells longer than the 300-character preview limit now show their full value (up to 4,000 characters) in a tooltip when you hover over them for a moment. The value is re-read from the file on demand and cached; sweeping the mouse across rows triggers no queries.
- Cells clipped only by column width get the native Finder-style expansion tooltip.
Install
brew install --cask inanalper/tap/kolon
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Kolon.app # until notarization landsKolon 0.2.0
What's new
- 3× smaller download — DuckDB is now a custom parquet-only build (unused extensions removed), and releases ship per-architecture zips: ~12 MB instead of ~40 MB. On-disk footprint drops from 107 MB to 36 MB.
- Much faster previews for wide files — table columns are now mounted progressively, so a 200-column preview paints as quickly as a narrow one.
Install
brew install inanalper/tap/kolonOr download the zip for your architecture below and move Kolon.app to /Applications.
