0.3.0 — Display module and configurable React widgets

Choose a tag to compare

@yrashk yrashk released this 21 Oct 17:54

Display now has an explicit module API: import createDisplay and mountDisplayWidget from openregard/display. Existing root imports remain compatible; stored profile IDs and configuration do not need to change.

React integrations can configure a standalone <DisplayWidget config={config} />, share configuration through <DisplayProvider config={config}>, or pass an existing controller as display. useDisplayProfile reads either a provider or an explicit controller. The module also exposes presets, styles and browser bundles through openregard/display/*.

The project site now has a smaller, consistent sans-serif hero that reflows with enlarged profiles, a vanilla/React code selector, and a dedicated Display presets guide linked prominently from navigation. The guide explains WCAG-informed visual recipes, WHATWG native HTML integration, and how the live profiles compose them. Deployed asset URLs are versioned to avoid mixing cached bundles and styles.

Validation: TypeScript; 30 unit/hydration tests; 32 Chromium/Firefox checks; packed-package clean installation covering dependency-free module imports, both browser bundles, included demos, legacy imports, React SSR and public types. The registry artifact is verified against the tested tarball before creating this release.

The included runnable demo remains available with npx --package=openregard openregard-demo. Presets require site CSS and do not establish accessibility conformance.

0.2.0 — Token presets and widget themes

@yrashk yrashk released this 21 Oct 17:45

Display is the first module in Open Regard, a modular accessibility toolkit. This release adds optional token recipes and a public widget styling API.

  • openregard/presets: immutable WCAG-informed spacing, resize and paired contrast recipes, plus a WHATWG-inspired native-control recipe. A separate browser bundle exposes OpenRegardPresets.
  • Both bindings expose .openregard-select and low-specificity CSS defaults with documented theme properties. Vanilla mountWidget now accepts className, matching React.
  • The included runnable vanilla, static docs and React demos have refreshed layouts, highlighted real source files and Standard, Vision, Vision + High Contrast and Max Contrast profiles.
  • Expanded documentation covers styling, standards, presets, static initialization and SSR. The public site is https://openregard.org/ and includes llms.txt and Markdown documentation. README includes the logo and CI/npm badges.

Validation: 25 unit/hydration tests, 30 Chromium/Firefox checks, numeric contrast checks, and clean installation of the exact packed artifact with native browser bundle, demo server, React SSR and public types. The published registry artifact is verified separately before this release is created.

Presets must be consumed by the site's CSS; they do not establish accessibility conformance.

Open Regard 0.1.0

@yrashk yrashk released this 21 Oct 16:56

Open Regard's first usable release extracts Startup Tier's display-preference selector into configurable, site-owned profiles.

  • Dependency-free TypeScript/ESM core with persisted preferences, same-page and cross-tab synchronization, token restoration and cleanup.
  • Accessible native-select widget, optional React 18/19 binding, public types, browser bundle and widget-only CSS.
  • Runnable vanilla, static-documentation and React demos included in the npm package: npx --package=openregard@0.1.0 openregard-demo.
  • Documented adoption contract, including a proposed Startup Tier migration preserving its existing stored preferences. Startup Tier has not been changed.
  • Integrated GitHub Pages website with the requested Inferal sponsorship credit.

Validation: 22 unit/hydration tests and 16 Chromium/Firefox browser checks pass; Linux CI and Pages deployment pass. A clean consumer installed the exact published npm version and verified core imports without React/DOM, the browser bundle and CSS, packaged demo server, React SSR and public types.

Published package: openregard@0.1.0. The attached tarball has the same SHA-512 integrity as the registry artifact:

The widget selects a preference; installing it does not establish accessibility conformance. Review the contract before adoption.
