Release list
Packbench 3.4.0
Packbench 3.4.0
Packbench can now verify release archives in unattended scripts and write a structured result. Verification rejects unsafe Windows paths, links, file/directory collisions and duplicate entries, and enforces metadata and streamed decompression budgets. Existing reports are preserved.
Verification
Engine regressions cover unsafe paths, archive links, entry and byte budgets, metadata limits, collisions, cancellation and both valid and rejected command results. The self-contained EXE passed unattended verification locally.
Automatic setup and portable builds include the .NET runtime. Installers are unsigned. ZIP checksums verify downloaded bytes; they do not authenticate an unknown publisher.
Hosted Windows engine, desktop, command and installer checks passed on the merged source.

Packbench v3.3.1: Display text corrections
Repairs damaged text encoding in interface labels, status messages and documentation. Arrows, symbols and punctuation now use valid UTF-8 text. Setup instructions reference this release.
Download Packbench-v3.3.1-setup.exe for automatic Windows setup with the bundled .NET runtime, or use the portable ZIP.
Verification: application regression and packaged UI checks passed. The setup installer passed first install, reinstall, installed application launch, uninstall and user-file preservation checks on a hosted Windows runner.

Packbench v3.3.0: Automatic Windows setup
Download Packbench-v3.3.0-setup.exe for automatic setup. It bundles the .NET runtime, installs for the current user, creates a Start menu shortcut and registers an uninstaller. A desktop shortcut is optional.
- Silent deployment is supported.
- Reinstallation preserves existing user data.
- Uninstall removes installed application files and preserves unrecognized user files and legacy settings.
- The portable Windows ZIP remains available.
Verification: application regression and packaged UI checks passed. The exact setup installer passed first install, reinstall, installed app launch, uninstall and user-file preservation tests on a hosted Windows runner.

Packbench v3.2.1: Application rename
Packbench is the new name for OpenPackager.
Updated executable, application branding, project documentation and installer names where provided. Existing saved settings remain compatible.
Extract the Windows ZIP and run Packbench.exe. Keep included files together. No separate .NET installation is required.
Verification: hosted regression tests, release build and packaged application checks passed. This release packages the exact executable from that successful Windows CI run.

OpenPackager v3.2.0
What's Changed
- Reject linked files in source bundles by @informent in #4
- Automate OpenPackager 3.2.0 releases by @informent in #6
Full Changelog: v3.1.0...v3.2.0
OpenPackager 3.1.0
OpenPackager 3.1.0
- Reject malformed JSON release manifests.
- Require unique checksum paths and strict SHA-256 formatting.
- Compare checksum coverage as an exact normalized path set so duplicate lines cannot mask missing payloads.
3.0.0
-
Verify existing OpenPackager ZIPs directly from the desktop app.
-
Validate manifests, complete SHA-256 coverage, every payload digest, duplicate archive paths, and traversal attempts.
-
Reject corrupted packages with actionable per-file results.
-
Include the release manifest in SHA-256 checksums and exclude the checksum list itself on repeated runs.
-
Stream file hashes instead of loading entire payloads into memory.
-
Preserve an existing ZIP and stage a new archive until creation succeeds; clean up unfinished archives on failure.
-
Reject symbolic links and junctions when packaging a release folder.
-
Rescan the selected project before building and reject unsupported folders.
-
Prevent overlapping builds and recover from publisher failures without mixing asynchronous and synchronous stderr reads.
-
Report version 2.9.0 consistently and compare update versions numerically.
-
Add archive-content regression tests and automated packaged-app checks to Windows CI.
Windows x64 executable and ZIP. This update does not certify installers, code signing, ARM64/x86 execution, or standalone Python/Node adapters. Python and Node GUI output remains a source bundle.
