Yaptic v0.1.0
First release of Yaptic: hold a key, talk, release, and your words are typed
wherever your cursor is. Speech recognition runs locally with Whisper on
Apple Silicon; cleanup with an LLM is optional.
What's in it
- Push-to-talk on ⌥ Space (changeable in settings), with a small status pill.
- Local Whisper large-v3-turbo transcription (downloaded on first run,
about 550 MB, checked against a pinned SHA-256). - Indonesian, English, and mixed speech, plus a custom dictionary.
- Optional cleanup through Anthropic or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint,
including local Ollama or LM Studio. Off by default. - Pastes at the cursor in any app and restores your clipboard afterwards.
Known limitations
- macOS on Apple Silicon only.
- Not signed with an Apple Developer ID: right-click → Open on first launch,
or runxattr -cr /Applications/Yaptic.app. - The shortcut needs a non-modifier key, so Fn alone or Right Option alone
isn't supported yet. - Auto-detecting the language adds about a second per dictation on an M1;
choosing Indonesian or English is faster. - Cloud cleanup needs internet; without it the raw transcript is pasted.
