Community Lab IDE 0.1.0
Community Lab IDE 0.1.0: the first release of Community Lab as an application of its own, independent of Scelo IDE and its swarm.
What's in it
- A province you can run. Unity Province: three cities, the centre they share and an airport, about four hundred residents in a hundred households, every one an agent on published South African mortality and fertility bases. Every rand is posted to hash-chained double-entry books; a burial society carries the risk; a monetary policy committee sets the repo rate. It runs offline; a local model (Ollama) scripts the conversations if you want it to.
- The province view. The live map with every resident on it, a clock from real time to a year a second, an inspector for any person, household or building, and a 3D close-up past the room plans, with everyone built from the simulation's own record of them.
- Analytics. Mortality experience against the basis by age band and sex, with intervals; fertility, health, safety, the economy, the books, SARS and the Mutual Bank; an actuarial workbench (interest, life contingencies, the society priced, risk theory and the SCR, projections, retirement and the old-age grant); a policy and stress lab of paired experiments on common random numbers; Monte Carlo.
- The workbench. A folder of files you choose:
*.province.jsonrebuilds the province on a seed, a basis, a mortality table and timed shocks;*.experiment.jsonruns a paired experiment on the local worker pool and keeps the result in the workspace;*.jsscripts run beside the editor with the engine at hand. The welcome screen's Create the sample workspace starts you from a sample in which every file runs. - Exports of the mortality experience, the person-year panel, the society's model points and the economy, each with its provenance and the true basis, to CSV, JSON or the workspace, in the open
scelo.exchange/1layout that Scelo IDE also reads.
Installers
Linux (.deb, .AppImage, x64): install the .deb on Ubuntu 22.04 or later and Debian 12 or later with sudo apt install ./Community-Lab-IDE-0.1.0-amd64.deb. It carries an AppArmor profile that lets Chromium's sandbox use user namespaces on Ubuntu 24.04, as VS Code's does. The AppImage runs on any recent distribution (chmod +x, then run it); it needs FUSE 2 (sudo apt install libfuse2t64, or libfuse2 before 24.04), and it updates itself from this page.
macOS (Community-Lab-IDE-0.1.0-arm64.dmg): for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later; there is no Intel build. Built by .github/workflows/release-macos.yml from this tag. It is not signed or notarised, so after dragging it to Applications, clear the download flag once:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Community Lab IDE.app"(or use Open Anyway under System Settings → Privacy & Security).
Windows (Community-Lab-IDE-0.1.0-x64.exe, Windows 10/11 x64): built by .github/workflows/release-windows.yml on GitHub's Windows runner, then installed silently and launched in CI before upload. Rebuilt on 7 Oct 2026 from af3f26c so the Start menu and desktop shortcuts, and with them the taskbar, show the app's icon (the first build's shortcuts showed a blank page); nothing else changed. It is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns on first run: choose More info → Run anyway. Windows has no auto-update; reinstall from here for new versions.
Everything the IDE needs ships inside each installer: the engine (a compiled Bun server with its worker pool), the client and the 3D people. Licensed under the Scelo IDE Source-Available License v1.1, the same license as Scelo IDE, word for word.
