@intermittech intermittech released this 20 Sep 02:07

⚠️ Experimental pre-release

WLED 16.0.1 with WIZnet W5500 SPI Ethernet support for the QuinLED Dig-Next-2. Not an official
WLED release and not the official QuinLED firmware. Back up your configuration before flashing and report
problems in this repository.

Changes since beta 1

  • Power Manager usermod updated from v1.1.2 to v1.3.0 (power sensing, first-frame blackout, staggered
bring-up, inrush settle window; see its change log).
  • The Dig-Next-2 build now follows the two new defaults of the upstream Dig-Next-2 example environment:
POWERMANAGER_TAKEOVER=true (outputs without a role stay off) and UM_AUDIOREACTIVE_ENABLE (sound reactive on by default).
  • No changes to the Ethernet code. Wiring, profiles and flashing are the same as in beta 1.

Assets

File Purpose
WLED-Dig-Next-2_W5500_v16.0.1-w5500-beta.2_flash-package.zip Standalone flasher: all images below + espflash 4.6.0 for Windows/Linux/macOS. Unzip, run flash.bat or flash.sh. Nothing else to install.
WLED_16.0.1_Dig-Next-2_W5500_factory_0x0.bin Fresh install, whole flash at 0x0 (erase first)
WLED_16.0.1_Dig-Next-2_W5500.bin Update at 0x10000, or OTA upload in the WLED web UI
WLED_16.0.1_Dig-Next-2_W5500_debug*.bin Same build with boot log on the USB serial port (115200 baud), for bug reports
WLED_16.0.1_ESP32_Ethernet_W5500*.bin Generic 4 MB ESP32 test build, "W5500 SPI (custom pins)" profile on the same GPIOs

Tested

On 2026-09-20 on a second Dig-Next-2 (ESP32-PICO-V3-02 rev 3.1) with a W5500 module: written as an update at 0x10000
with the espflash binary from the flash package (settings kept), reachable over Ethernet within 15 s of the reboot,
Ethernet profile 16 active, GPIO 25/32/0/33/15/14 reserved, Power Manager v1.3.0 and AudioReactive present in
/json/info, 10/10 pings at 0–1 ms. The Ethernet code is unchanged from beta 1, which was tested on another board
on 2026-09-01 after a full erase and the factory image.

Not tested

LED output, buttons, relays and microphone on this build (unchanged code, but not exercised), the new Power
Manager sensing features, static IP on Ethernet, cable unplug/replug, 2-wire LED types together with the W5500,
long-term stability.

Known limitations

  • No I2C while the Ethernet module is fitted (INT/RST use the Stemma QT lines).
  • The usermod "global SPI" bus cannot be used together with the W5500.
  • Profile pins are fixed at build time (no UI to edit them).

See the README for wiring, flashing details,
how it works, and full credits.

WLED 16.0.1 + W5500 for the Dig-Next-2 (experimental beta 1)

@intermittech intermittech released this 19 Sep 17:12

⚠️ Experimental pre-release

WLED 16.0.1 with WIZnet W5500 SPI Ethernet support for the QuinLED Dig-Next-2. Not an official
WLED release and not the official QuinLED firmware. Tested on one board with one W5500 module. Back up your
configuration before flashing and report problems in this repository.

What you get

  • Wired Ethernet on the Dig-Next-2 via a W5500 module on the QEXT + Stemma QT headers
(SCLK 25, MOSI 32, MISO 0, CS 33, INT 15, RST 14). Ethernet is started at boot; WiFi/AP fallback as in stock WLED.
  • Everything from the regular Dig-Next-2 build: LED outputs on GPIO 2/4, buttons 34/35, onboard PDM microphone,
Power Manager usermod (v1.1.2) for the External Relay and the 5A_1 / 10A_1 / 5A_2 outputs.
  • Two new Ethernet profiles in WLED's WiFi settings: QuinLED Dig-Next-2 (W5500) and W5500 SPI (custom pins).
  • The Stemma QT / I2C port is taken by the W5500 INT/RST lines and is not available in this build.

WLED_16.0.1_ESP32_Ethernet_W5500*.bin Generic 4 MB ESP32 test build, "W5500 SPI (custom pins)" profile on the same GPIOs

Tested

On 2026-09-01, Dig-Next-2 (ESP32-PICO-V3-02 rev 3.1) after a full erase: W5500 detected on the first boot,
link up and DHCP lease about 3 s after power-on, WLED-AP closed automatically, 20/20 pings at 0–1 ms, 40/40 HTTP
requests. Release and debug builds verified over Ethernet.

Not tested

LED output, buttons, relays and microphone on this build (unchanged code, but not exercised), static IP on
Ethernet, cable unplug/replug, 2-wire LED types together with the W5500, long-term stability. The flash package
scripts were verified against espflash without a board attached; report if flash.bat / flash.sh misbehave.

Known limitations

  • No I2C while the Ethernet module is fitted.
  • The usermod "global SPI" bus cannot be used together with the W5500.
  • Profile pins are fixed at build time (no UI to edit them).

it works, and full credits (ESP-IDF W5500 driver by Espressif, ETHClass2 lineage via LilyGO and @troyhacks, design
