Firmware for the Viper Force Transducer Gen 5 side stick. Install from the AIM Cockpit Manager's Firmware page (Check for updates, then Download and Upload & flash).

Changes since 1.0.0:

  • Haptic feedback (1.4.0): real DRV2605L haptic driver with a full effect map. Pairs with AIM Cockpit Manager v1.4.0, which detects sim events from DCS and Falcon BMS (gun fire, missile launch, gear, stall buffet, weapon release, countermeasures, touchdown, over-G) and fires them on the stick.
  • Filter tuning and factory identity (1.3.0): adjustable signal filter, plus serial number, manufacture date, and calibration date stored on the stick.
  • Hysteresis tuning (1.2.0): adjustable center snap with one-click re-zero, correctly anchored to your calibrated center.
  • Factory reset (1.1.0): one-click calibration reset from the manager's developer mode. User preferences survive.

Requires AIM Cockpit Manager v1.3.0 or newer to access every feature; v1.4.0 recommended.

🚀 VFT Gen 5 Firmware Release Notes

⚠️ Critical Compatibility Notice

This firmware is ONLY compatible with the Gen 5 VFT control board.

  • DO NOT flash this firmware to Gen 1–Gen 4 boards
  • ❌ Flashing to unsupported hardware WILL brick the device
  • ✅ Confirm your hardware is Gen 5 before proceeding

🧩 Software Compatibility

This firmware is designed to work exclusively with the upcoming:

  • AIM Cockpit Manager

⚠️ It is NOT compatible with previous configuration tools or software.

✨ Highlights

  • Fully integrated support for the new Gen 5 hardware architecture
  • Optimized communication protocol for AIM Network ecosystem
  • Improved axis processing and normalization
  • Enhanced stability and performance across all inputs
  • Foundation for future multi-device cockpit integration (stick, throttle, pedals, MFDs)

🔧 Changes & Improvements

  • Reworked USB/HID handling for next-gen configurator support
  • Updated internal configuration structure (not backward compatible)
  • Improved ADC handling and filtering for more precise force input
  • Refined calibration pipeline for better repeatability
  • Reduced latency in input reporting

🛑 Breaking Changes

  • Not backward compatible with previous firmware versions
  • ❗ Requires Gen 5 control board
  • ❗ Requires AIM Cockpit Manager
  • ❗ Legacy configuration tools will not recognize this firmware

📦 Installation Notes

  1. Verify your hardware is Gen 5
  2. Use only the official flashing method provided
  3. Do NOT interrupt power during flashing
  4. After flashing, configuration must be done via AIM Cockpit Manager

🧪 Status

  • Initial release for Gen 5 platform
  • Intended for use with upcoming AIM ecosystem rollout

📝 Final Notes

This release represents a major architectural shift toward the AIM Network vision.
It is not intended for legacy support and is focused entirely on next-generation hardware and software integration. Gen 5 boards will be backward compatible with Gen 4 VFT sensors if you really want to update to Gen 5.
