v6.5

Added

  • Added experimental Winapp3.ini cleanup-rule support with its own download, parsing, memory cache, disk cache, source toggle, and analyze/preview integration.
  • Added Skip Downloads and Cache Only controls to Advanced Cleanup so previously downloaded and cached community rules can load faster without network or cache-rebuild work.
  • Added an optional CleanerML Pending (Beta) source for loading unverified rules from BleachBit's pending definitions.
  • Added support for additional CleanerML action commands, including truncate, sqlite.vacuum, winreg, and guarded process actions.
  • Added CleanerML process-name guards so a rule is skipped when its associated application is still running.
  • Added Repair Selected to the package-results context menu, with repair/reinstall commands for supported Winget, pip, npm, pnpm, Chocolatey, Scoop, RubyGems, Cargo, .NET tool, PowerShell module, and Composer entries.
  • Added Game Library repair actions for Steam file validation, Legendary/Epic verification, and GOGDL repair.
  • Added double-click actions that open Winget manifests or the relevant Steam, Epic, and GOG store page for supported package/provider results.
  • Added a dedicated, debounced Search library box with an inline clear button for filtering Game Library entries by name, ID, or provider.
  • Added a Tweaks loading error state with visible diagnostics, a Retry button, timeout handling, and synchronous fallback when a background runspace cannot be used.

Changed

  • Updated WMT-GUI.ps1 app version to 6.5.
  • Modernized the WPF interface with fewer harsh borders, more consistent theme colors, borderless headers and action controls, subtler elevation, improved spacing, and better default panel widths.
  • Added draggable column-header grips so supported GridView columns can be resized manually.
  • Reworked package search to stream results one provider at a time instead of waiting for every selected provider to finish before showing anything.
  • Added live package-search provider progress and per-provider result counts in the Updates status area.
  • Changed package-search relevance filtering to match the package Name rather than the package ID, reducing unrelated matches such as IDs that merely contain the search text.
  • Unified the Package Updates, Firewall, Game Library, and Advanced Cleanup search-box styling with inline search icons, clear buttons, focus highlighting, and debounced filtering where appropriate.
  • Improved large-list handling with virtualization, recycled item containers, cached scroll-viewer lookup, and debounced column resizing.
  • Reworked Advanced Cleanup source selection to use the newer themed interface and persist the Winapp2, Winapp3, CleanerML, pending-rule, download, and cache-only choices.
  • Improved community-cleaner cache validation and rule evidence checks to reduce irrelevant CleanerML entries and false-positive application matches.
  • Expanded CleanerML application recognition and category grouping for more browsers, chat clients, productivity tools, games, media apps, developer tools, archive tools, and virtual-machine utilities.
  • Coordinated the Tweaks loading overlay so it remains visible until both registry/button-state loading and optional Windows-feature detection have completed.
  • Improved Tweaks state loading with a re-entry guard, runspace-pool health checks, cleanup of abandoned jobs/timers, error reporting, retry handling, and a 30-second timeout.
  • Moved tweak registry existence checks and more tweak writes to explicit .NET registry helpers and literal-path operations, avoiding PowerShell registry-provider wildcard expansion.
  • Expanded package and Game Library repair handling while preserving source-specific commands and skipping unsupported selections with clear feedback.

Fixed

  • Fixed Quick Find building its search index before the deferred control-index population had finished.
  • Fixed WinRE status detection so the summary correctly recognizes Windows RE is enabled/disabled output and no longer warns solely because the enabled-status line has no colon.
  • Fixed the Tweaks page hanging indefinitely for some users while loading its initial state cache.
  • Fixed literal * registry keys, such as the Open with Notepad context-menu path, triggering expensive recursive wildcard enumeration and possible process instability.
  • Fixed the Tweaks overlay hiding before optional feature states such as .NET, WSL, and Hyper-V were ready.
  • Fixed incorrect state direction, labels, and colors on several consolidated tweak buttons, including memory compression, recent items, Take Ownership, PowerShell Here, End Task, and dark mode.
  • Fixed Firewall Manager crashing when its context menu was opened without a valid selected rule, including right-clicks on empty space, headers, or scrollbars.
  • Fixed update-result context menus opening without a selected package row.
  • Fixed Game Library category navigation leaving the library subview active when switching back to normal software categories.
  • Fixed Steam, Epic/Legendary, and GOG/GOGDL double-click links using the wrong source names or store URL format.
  • Fixed Advanced Cleanup community-rule category rendering after multiple rule sources were combined.
  • Fixed CleanerML wildcard and deep/walk evidence checks accepting overly broad parent folders as proof that an application was installed.
  • Fixed the old duplicate-driver cleaner mishandling entries with unknown version/build data.
  • Prevented the old driver cleaner from offering oem*.inf packages that are currently in use by active devices.

Notes

  • Winapp3 and CleanerML pending definitions are experimental. Review their analyze/preview results before cleaning.
  • Cache Only intentionally skips source validation and parsing; it requires an existing usable cache file.
  • With background jobs disabled, Tweaks uses a synchronous fallback and may load more slowly on some systems.
