We are still actively developing the software (@ibnesayeed and I are PhD students and ipwb is relevant to our research) but it currently Works to a Satisfying Degree™ (though there are still many improvements to be made).
One such improvement (ipwb #61) is to make ipwb more index-less and rely more on IPNS and IPLD but some issues remain to be discussed as to the feasibility of this with a preliminary discussion both in ipwb #61 and as occurred verbally on the July 17 (around minute 42-ish).
We also hope to integrate with js-ipfs to encourage usage by reducing the overhead of needing a local daemon (and also to potential hit a remote daemon) among many other new features and fixes.
In the interest of preventing this from falling off of our radar, we were encouraged to post to ipfs/notes to serve as a place for further discussion.
At the July 17, 2017 IPFS All-Hands video call @ibnesayeed and I gave a quick high-level demo of InterPlanetary Wayback, which I had also presented and demoed with @diasdavid at the IIPC Web Archiving Conference in June 2017 in London.
