WordPress rebuilds its update list after each update by asking wordpress.org first, and gives up on the whole list when that call is slow; the plugin now keeps its own update in the list regardless.
• Changed: a release found more than an hour ago is refreshed in the background whenever the Plugins screen is opened, so the newest release is offered rather than an intermediate one.

• Fixed: the warning that says private photos are still reachable by anyone with the address could fail to appear. Protect Files cannot always move files out of the folder your web server publishes, and the plugin warns you on the Gallery settings tab when that happens. The warning was only shown when the address in your browser named the Gallery tab, so opening Settings from the HivePress menu showed the tab with no warning on it, and nothing said anything was wrong. It is now shown whenever the Gallery tab is on screen, however you reached it. Please open Settings > Gallery once after updating: if the warning is there, your private and members-only photos have been openly reachable and the notice explains what to do about it.
• Fixed: the OpenAI API key on the Integrations tab lost its show/hide button and stretched across the whole screen when you opened Settings from the HivePress menu rather than clicking through to the Integrations tab. The key stayed hidden either way, but there was no way to check what you had pasted. The button and the normal field width now appear wherever the key is shown.

• Changed: the settings screen now keeps its quick links in view as you scroll, and adds a Save button and a back-to-top button that follow you down the page. The quick links, the Save button and the back-to-top button now look and sit exactly the same in every one of these extensions, so moving between two of their settings tabs no longer means hunting for the same control in a different place.

• Added: an AI Moderation Photo Limit setting, shown once AI Moderation is ticked. AI review covers at most ten photos per folder save, so a folder holding more could be published with photos nobody looked at. Set the limit (1 to 10) and no folder can hold more photos than one review covers; it overrides higher limits, including per-plan ones, and is enforced when uploading and when moving a photo between folders. Folders already over the limit keep their photos but cannot take new ones.
• Added: quick links at the top of the Gallery settings tab, one per section, with a divider between sections, so a setting near the bottom no longer means scrolling blind.
• Changed: the settings descriptions are shorter and wrap at a readable width instead of the full screen, and the hover tooltips are wider, so their text no longer breaks into ragged slivers.
• Changed: the AI Moderation description no longer says that photos beyond the tenth are never checked. Each save reviews up to ten photos that have not been reviewed before, so a folder's backlog is worked through over later saves. Only the wording was wrong; the reviewing itself is unchanged.

A follow-up to 1.9.1: the button position setting needed to be two settings, not one.

• The Gallery Button Position setting added in 1.9.1 was a single box governing both vendor profiles and listing pages. The two sidebars number their blocks on different scales, so one figure could not hold the same relative place on each: 24 clears social links on a profile, where they sit at 25, but lands below both social links and the action buttons on a listing, where they sit at 15 and 20. There are now two boxes, one per page type, and each lists that page's own landmarks in its instructions.

If you already set a position, it stays with your vendor profiles. Listing pages go back to the default placement, with the button beside the other action buttons, until you fill in the new box. Nothing else changes.

v1.9.1

A fix for paid access after changing what one unlock buys, plus a setting for where the View Gallery button sits.

Fixed

• Switching "What Access Buys" between the whole gallery and each folder left the other choice's products on sale. Those products are hidden from your shop, but their checkout links keep working, so a vendor's old whole-gallery pass could still be bought at its old price after the site had moved to per-folder pricing, and buying one granted access to the vendor's entire gallery. Found on a real site: three products still purchasable at 5.00, 12.00 and 20.00 with no page on the site offering them. A gallery access product is now on sale only while the site offers what it sells. Nothing is deleted and no price is changed, so switching the setting back puts exactly the same offer live again, and access anybody has already paid for is untouched.
• The changelog and short description in the readme were being silently truncated, because WordPress caps them at 5,000 and 150 characters. Older changelog entries have moved to changelog.txt, which now ships with the plugin.

Added

• A Gallery Button Position setting. Leave it empty and the View Gallery button sits with the other action buttons beside Send Message, sharing their spacing, which is how 1.9.0 behaves. Enter a number and the button takes a place of its own in the sidebar instead, where a lower number sits higher up. This matters if you use HivePress Social Links: it places itself above the action buttons, which pushed the gallery button below it.

Upgrading is safe: no setting is renamed or reset.

Gallery pages you can lay out, sidebars on every gallery page, and paid access that can be sold folder by folder.

Added

• Gallery and folder pages can now have a sidebar of their own, on either side, each with its own widget area under Appearance, then Widgets. Both are off until you switch them on.
• A folder grid you control. Choose how many columns of folder covers a full-width screen shows, whether covers are cropped horizontal, vertical or square, and how many rows to show where a gallery is embedded in a vendor profile or a listing, with a link to the full gallery for the rest. Narrow screens always show fewer columns, so a phone is never asked to draw six.
• An option for what one paid unlock buys. It can be the vendor's whole gallery, as before, or each folder separately, so a vendor can price individual folders and a buyer pays only for the one they want. Prices set under one choice are kept if you switch to the other and back, and nobody loses access they have already paid for.
• A Gallery Settings link in the top right of a gallery page, and a Folder Settings link on a folder page, shown to the vendor who owns it and to the site owner. Visitors see nothing.
• Vendors and site owners now see private folders on the public gallery page, marked Private, with a note saying visitors do not see them. Everybody else sees exactly what they saw before.

Changed

• The View Gallery button now sits inside HivePress's own actions box on vendor profiles and listings, beside Send Message, instead of floating below it with a gap of its own.
• Gallery folders moved in wp-admin from under HivePress to Vendors, where they belong.
• The folder edit screen has one owner control instead of two. WordPress's Author box is gone, the Vendor field is no longer marked optional, and the post author follows the vendor on save. Any folder whose author and vendor already disagreed is put right on upgrade.
• The folder edit screen's Settings box is now called Gallery Settings.
• The sidebar and locked folder settings are radio buttons, so the empty "-" choice that read as an extra option is gone.
• Layout, lightbox and sidebar settings moved out of General into a new Gallery Pages section. No option name or stored value changes.
• Names and avatars on photo comments now link to that person's profile, where the site publishes one.
• The Manage Photo description box no longer mentions alt text in its placeholder.

Fixed

• Every Members only badge now carries a padlock. Folder covers and the vendor's own folder list showed the words alone while the folder page and the single page layout showed a padlock, so the same state looked like two different states on one site.
• The New Folder, Paid Access and Delete Folder headings now use HivePress's own section heading, so they get the accent rule above them that every other heading on the page has.

Upgrading is safe: no setting is renamed or reset, and no purchased access is affected.

• Fixed: no PHP warning left on a renamed install folder either. 1.4.0 fixed this for a normally named folder; on a renamed one, which is what downloading the source as a zip produces, HivePress still raised "Array to string conversion" once per request on sites with no paid HivePress extension.
• Fixed: gallery folders no longer appear on vendor profiles and listing pages for a vendor whose gallery access has lapsed. Folder titles, media counts and full size cover images were all still shown, and every link out of them sent the visitor to the home page. Every other part of the plugin already checked.
• Fixed: the Commission Rate description now explains that the fee only reaches you if your payment gateway settles gallery orders into the site's own payment account. With a gateway that charges each vendor's connected account directly, the whole order including the fee is paid to the vendor, so both commission boxes should be left empty. A new hp_agl/commission filter lets such a gateway switch the commission off by itself.
• Fixed: "Delete all gallery data" now removes four settings it used to leave behind, including a stored server path, and clears the AI review marks from photos it deliberately keeps, so a reinstall no longer treats those photos as already reviewed.
• Fixed: deleting the plugin now also clears the update check's own leftovers and cancels its background update check.

v1.8.15

Covers 1.8.6 through 1.8.15. Recommended for every site: three of these matter on a live gallery.

New

• Vendors choose their own access lengths. A vendor prices up to three lengths (a day, a week, a month, three months or permanent) instead of one site-wide period. Existing site-wide values carry into the matching slot on upgrade.
• Vendors pick a folder's cover photo. Without a choice the first photo is still used. A cover later deleted or moved falls back to the first photo rather than leaving a gap.
• Show the gallery on vendor profiles and on listings, rather than only linking to it. Two settings, both off to begin with, both independent of the sidebar buttons.
• Every photo comment is now a link target, and a comment reached through a notification announces itself with a soft highlight.

Changed

• Unlock buttons lead with the length: "Unlock for 7 Days (£5.00)" rather than putting the price first and burying the length at the end.
• The fee shown to buyers at checkout is called "Platform fee" rather than "Gallery Access Fee".

Fixed

• A fatal error on every request when the plugin ran without HivePress on WordPress versions that do not enforce the Requires Plugins header. The 1.8.3 upgrade step called HivePress unguarded, which took down even the admin request carrying the "requires HivePress" notice. It now waits, and the upgrade completes once HivePress is back.
• Gallery access could be bought while signed out. Access attaches to an account, so a guest order paid and received nothing. Signed-out visitors are now refused at add-to-cart, the classic cart and checkout, and the blocks checkout, and asked to sign in first.
• Gallery access could not be paid for with a Stripe Connect direct-charges gateway. Such gateways find a product's vendor to route the charge, and gallery access carried only this plugin's own vendor marker, not the standard one the gateway reads. It now stamps the conventional hp_vendor product meta too.
• A basket holding gallery access from two different vendors paid the whole order to the first of them. The one-seller rule now covers baskets built by signing in or by re-ordering, not only by adding an item.
• The Platform fee was recorded on the first gallery line rather than the order's first line of any kind, so a basket whose first line was an ordinary listing purchase paid the fee out to the vendor as earnings.
• Pressing a Buy button added the pass to the basket and then dropped the buyer on another page instead of the checkout.
• The AI photo check never finished for folders holding a video, so no photo was ever marked as checked and every re-save paid for a full re-review.
• The padlock on a locked folder's "Members only" label now sits apart from the words, matching the Unlock buttons, and that label no longer leaves an HTML tag unclosed.

v1.8.5

Fixes a fault in 1.8.4 that could short-change a buyer. Update if you sell gallery access.

Fixed

• Buying two lengths of access in one go granted only one of them. A buyer could put, say, seven days and ninety days in the basket together and pay for both, and only the first was counted: they were charged for ninety-seven days and given seven. Access was being recorded against the order rather than against each thing bought, so the second line was quietly dropped. Both are now counted. Access already granted is unaffected, and a refund still takes back only what that order paid for.
• Filling in an access length for the very first time did not update the products already selling it, so the unlock button could advertise one length while the checkout named another. Setting a length for the first time and changing an existing one now both bring the products back in step. WordPress fires a different hook when an option is created than when it is changed, and only the second was being listened for.

Added

• Vendors can charge different prices for different lengths of access. Until now a site offered one length and a vendor set one price for it. You can now set up to three lengths in Settings, and each vendor prices whichever of them they want to sell; a buyer picks from the ones that vendor has priced. Sites offering a single length carry on exactly as before, and every price already set stays where it is.
• Commission on gallery access sales. Set a percentage, a fixed amount, or both, and leave both empty to take nothing. The amount is added on top at checkout and appears to the buyer as its own line, on the block checkout and the classic one alike, so the vendor still receives the price they set. With HivePress Marketplace running, the fee is recorded against the order so that it does not count towards the vendor's earnings.

Changed

• Buying access while you still have some now extends it. Before, a second purchase was ignored, which was harmless when there was only one thing to buy and would have meant taking someone's money for nothing now that there is more than one. Refunding one of those purchases now takes back only the days it paid for, instead of everything.
• The length of access is recorded on the order. An order that takes days to clear, such as a bank transfer, now grants what the site was offering when it was paid for, rather than whatever the setting happens to say when the money arrives.
• The gallery's settings have moved out of the Vendors tab into a Gallery tab of their own. Nothing you have configured moves or resets.

Fixed

• The Settings link beside the plugin on the Plugins screen, and the warning shown when protected photos cannot be moved out of the published folder, both pointed at the old tab.
