ADD steps: a table step can now add a note instead of moving the pitch. When the table reaches an ADD step, the note playing keeps its pitch and a new note starts at the note's pitch plus the step's offset, so one trig (or one key in KEYBOARD) can strum a chord.
- In the editor: YES toggles ADD on the selected step. ADD steps are drawn as hollow bars, and the bottom line shows ADD.
- Strum up: 0, +4, +7, +12 with ADD on steps 2-4, loop OFF. Strum down: +12, +7, +4, 0, ADD on steps 2-4. SPD sets the gap between the notes (1 is a tick, about 21 ms at 120 BPM; 1/2 is half that).
- The added notes are copies of the trig's note: same sound, p-locks, velocity and length. They release together with the note that added them, at the end of the trig's length or when the key is let go.
- Projects: the ADD flags use two spare bytes of each table, so projects saved with 1.2 load with no ADD steps, and the project format is unchanged.
Everything from 1.2 is unchanged: the TBL page (TBL, SPD down to MAX), the editor, 16 tables saved with the project, and the Mod Menu entry.
Status: ADD steps have run on a Digitone, and were checked in the emulator for timing, release, the added voices' parameters, the chord in the audio, a loop of ADD steps at MAX speed (no crash or leak), and save and load. Not yet checked: the arpeggiator with tables (on arpeggiator notes, ADD steps add nothing), and restoring the tables at power-up.
Added notes use the Digitone's 8 voices like any note: a trig that already holds a chord strums each of its notes, and a loop over ADD steps keeps stealing voices.
Install
digitables 1.3 needs core-dn1 2.2, attached here unchanged from 1.2 (core-dn1-2.2.elemod, built from elekloader's mods/core-dn1 in #34 and #35). elekloader's apps bundle core-dn1 2.0a, so install the 2.2 core with the mod until a release has it.
In elekloader, choose Digitone_and_Digitone_Keys_OS1.43.syx as the stock firmware, + Install from file... both files, tick digitables, and make sure the core ticked with it is 2.2. The README has the steps, the command line, and how to get back to stock.
