Orvix v0.7.9-beta.69

Android-only Free P2P startup hotfix

This release retains the beta.64-based UI, source browser, and playback architecture used in beta.68. There is no source-list redesign and no automatic source-selection overhaul.

• Removed the misleading 30-second startup failure for Android local P2P torrents. Slow peer discovery or buffering does not by itself mark a torrent as failed or display the full-screen startup error. A torrent can continue starting for several minutes, or longer, while the user remains on the player screen.
• No automatic MPV → ExoPlayer switch solely because the local torrent is slow. The selected stream stays active. Back still allows the user to exit and release the session.
• Genuine underlying player errors may still be reported. This does not guarantee every torrent is playable or resolve the separate Android keyboard popup issue.

Windows, macOS and iOS are not rebuilt in this Android-only hotfix. ExoPlayer-default and the experimental automatic Free P2P selection architecture are reserved for a future release.

Testing: Automated CI validation covers app behavior; actual torrent startup on a physical Android device still needs testing.

Beta highlights

Urgent Android Mobile and Android TV Free P2P recovery hotfix after playback and browsing regressions in beta.65–66.

• Manual Free P2P playback restored. Play on a title, episode or Continue Watching now opens the source list. Select the torrent you want to try; Orvix no longer auto-picks or automatically hops between torrents on Android.
• No blocking live-probe round. Browsing Android Free P2P sources does not launch the separate health-check torrents, show the 1/6–6/6 probe overlay, or require a probe verdict before a manual selection.
• Simpler source list. Removed Free P2P Recommended / My Priority / Smooth modes, health bands, Re-check and live-report controls. Provider, file size, reported seeders, compatibility, sorting and pins remain available.
• Slow starts are not immediately treated as failed playback. For a local Android torrent, the 30-second startup notice now says the player is still connecting, rather than displaying a full-screen failure card. Real player errors and Back remain functional.
• Less intrusive failure notices. Error notifications are brief and dismissible.
• Cloud/debrid routes, subtitles and the underlying torrent engine are not changed by this recovery patch.

Validation notice: automated tests and CI pass, but playback of specific torrents on a real Android phone or TV has not yet been confirmed. Torrent availability and startup times vary with the swarm. Please report actual failures with privacy-safe diagnostics.

Orvix v0.7.9-beta.66 Android Mobile + TV

Beta highlights

This is an Android Mobile and Android TV hotfix for Free P2P playback problems reported in beta.65.

• Slow-starting streams are no longer abandoned. In beta.65 an automatic Play could close the player after its 30-second startup notice, or after an early player error, and move on to another source. The player now stays open and keeps trying, as in beta.64. Automatic fallback still happens only when a torrent fails before the player opens.
• Automatic choice uses measured live speed again. Normal Play and Quick Play choose by measured first byte, throughput, live peers and compatibility. In beta.65 the Source Priority could make them prefer the largest, highest-quality release. Your Source Priority still orders the list in My Priority.
• Android TV: Play opens the source list right away. Play on a title or episode shows the sources as soon as the providers answer, as in beta.64. The live check runs in the background and every row can be played at once.
• Fewer repeated checks. Reopening the sources or pressing Play again on the same title reuses live-check results from the last three minutes. Re-check still starts over.
• Shorter playback notices. The "Could not play" and "did not start" messages close by themselves after a few seconds, can be closed on mobile, and replace each other instead of stacking. The playback report can still be copied from the source list on mobile, or from the Live report chip on TV.
• Cloud/debrid playback (TorBox, Real-Debrid, Premiumize, PikPak) and direct links are unchanged.

Still under validation: these fixes are covered by automated tests only. Free P2P playback on real phones and TVs, including the titles reported in beta.65, still needs testing on devices. Whether a torrent plays also depends on its swarm at that moment. Please share the playback report if a source does not start.

• One-click Play on Android TV. With no cloud/debrid account connected, Play on a title or episode now starts the best verified Free P2P source directly instead of opening the source browser. Manual choice stays one press away: use the new Sources button next to Play, or hold OK on an episode.
• One-click Play on Android Mobile. Play runs a bounded live check, starts the best verified source and, if it does not start, moves to the next verified source.
• Verified-live sources only. Automatic playback starts only direct links or torrents confirmed live by a recent check. Unchecked, dead or failed torrents are never auto-started, whatever their reported seeders.
• Bounded automatic fallback. At most three attempts per press, no new fallback after two minutes, and no source switching once playback has started or after Back. If nothing starts, Orvix says why and opens the source list.
• Hybrid source ranking combines measured live health with your Source Priority.
• Session cleanup. Torrent sessions survive the hand-off from live check to playback, and failed or abandoned attempts no longer leave torrents connecting in the background. Fixes the local torrent not being released after leaving ExoPlayer.
• Playback diagnostics. The live-check report now records each attempt and why it ended, with torrents and URLs redacted. Copy it from the source list on mobile or the Live report chip on TV.
• Mobile Search keyboard and focus fixes.
• Cloud/debrid playback (TorBox, Real-Debrid, Premiumize, PikPak) is unchanged.
