Adds gitleaks — scans a repo and its history for committed secrets: keys, tokens, passwords.

Everything in 2026.09.08 is carried forward, including the SSH config fix, which a live take-home install confirmed on 2026-09-11.

Fixes SSH authentication to GitHub for any command that does not spell out git@.

The ~/.ssh/config section this tool writes named the key but not the user. SSH falls back to your Mac's login name when a section names none, so GitHub saw a username it had never heard of:

  • git clone git@github.com:you/repo.git worked — the user is in the URL
  • ssh -T github.com and any remote typed without git@ returned Permission denied (publickey)

The section now carries User git. If you installed an earlier release, re-run the tool and it will rewrite the section in place.

Nothing else changes from 2026.09.07.

Fixes the timeout warning on a brand-new Mac. The first time you changed directory, the prompt showed a red Executing command ... timed out warning, then never again. It was giving a command half a second to answer — plenty once the machine is warm, not enough the very first time a freshly installed tool runs. It now allows two seconds.

Nothing was broken, and nothing you did caused it. But a warning that appears once on a new machine is hard to tell from a real problem.

Fixes the Dock. On a fresh Mac the Dock step failed with a serialization error and took the Dock's applications down with it — the folder and the icons are set by two steps, and the second never ran. Both work now.

Fixes a check that could never pass. verify reported lms as failing. It was asking a question that needs the LM Studio daemon, which does not exist until you have opened the application once, and nothing here can launch an application for you. It now checks that the CLI itself runs, and says plainly that opening LM Studio once is what starts the daemon.

When the tool asks for your Mac login password it used to add "(NOT your VPN bundle password)". That warning belongs to the in-class setup, which hands out a second password minutes earlier. Nothing in this version ever asks for one, so the prompt now just asks for your Mac login password.

Installs both local-model runtimes. Ollama's server runs as a background service, so port 11434 answers in a fresh terminal and after a reboot. LM Studio's lms command is put on your PATH, which the application does not do itself.

Neither downloads a model. Both stores start empty; ollama pull and lms get are yours to run. A single model is often larger than everything else this installs put together.

Adds your Applications folder to the right of the Dock, drawn as a folder rather than a stack and opening as a grid. Anything already on that side of the Dock stays where it is, and remove puts it back as it was.

Sets the desktop to plain black, using macOS's own solid-colour file — no image is installed, and remove restores the desktop you had.

Fixes the Manual's entry for Docker Desktop, which was blank.

Adds the Claude Code and Codex command-line agents and Docker Desktop. Both agents are installed only — signing in is yours to do, and the run never waits for it. Docker Desktop replaces the classroom's colima stack, and asks for Rosetta on Apple Silicon; the README carries that one command.

Fixes the verify command, which was printed without its required --profile and failed as written.
