Release list
Asylum for Windows (Godot port) 1.0.0
First release of the Windows port of Asylum (Andy Southgate, 1994), based on SDL Asylum and running on Godot Engine 4.7.2.
Install
Download asylum-windows-godot-1.0.0-windows-x86_64.zip, extract it anywhere and start Asylum\Asylum.exe. Nothing is installed: settings, high scores and the saved position are stored in userdata\ next to Asylum.exe.
Requirements: 64-bit Windows 10 or later, and a graphics driver with OpenGL 3.3 support.
Highlights
- The original game with its unchanged data: the mental zones Ego, Psyche and Id
- Display modes Windowed, Borderless and Full Screen; F11 or Alt+Enter switches between the window and full screen
- Window aspect ratios 4:3, 16:10, 16:9 and 21:9 with every standard resolution that fits the monitor
- Scale 1.0x to 3.0x: a higher scale raises the internal resolution and shows more of the game world
- The picture always fills the window or screen, without black bars or plain stretching
- Smooth Motion (interpolation of the 50 Hz game logic) and Vsync options
- English, Korean and Simplified Chinese
- Rebindable keys, gamepads, and the mouse in menus
See the README for controls and settings, and docs/PORTING_NOTES.md for every difference from the original.
