PKG Manager v1.0.0 – Initial Release

🎉 Welcome to PKG Manager – First Release!

I'm happy to announce the initial public release of PKG Manager (v1.0.0) – a clean and intuitive package manager for PS5!

Browse and install packages directly from USB drives, optical discs, or over your local network (Samba/SMB), with support for multi-part packages.

The easiest way is to get it directly from the Payload Manager – it’s included in the default repository.

You can of course also download pkgmgr.elf from the Releases page and add it to Payload Manager yourself, or load it like any other ELF payload.

This is v1.0.0, so there might be bugs / issues.

It hasn't been tested on many firmwares yet – if you're on a different firmware / jailbreak, please report whether it works for you and include:

1. Firmware version + jailbreak method
2. What you did + what happened
3. Log from http://[PS5_IP]:8844/api/log if possible

I believe this KPs the console if the traffic from the PS5 to the share network is blocked. Or maybe it's something else but I keep getting a KP everytime i change my Tinywall settings to disable or reenable the firewall

Hello, I'm having several problems with pkgmanager. It can't list all the games (34 detected, 6 displayed...), it doesn't detect any pkg dumps, and no log is generated to understand what's happening...

Where exactly are these pkgs located? Are they all .pkg files? (this tool doesn't support any other formats)

Hi, to clarify:
I'm using PKG Manager v1.0.0 with both an external SSD and a Synology NAS via SMB, and I get the same issue on both.
My storage contains regular .pkg files, PS5 dump folders, and .exfat/.ffpfsc images. The scanner seems to scan all of them (e.g. 34 detected), but only 6 titles are displayed.
I understand that only .pkg files are supported, so I don't expect dumps or .exfat/.ffpfsc games to appear. However, several actual .pkg games are also missing, both on SSD and SMB.
Also, /api/log only shows the startup line, with no scan/parsing errors, so I can't see why those PKGs are skipped.
I can provide examples of a working .pkg and a missing .pkg if needed.

Check if some pkgs aren't grouped into the same title (it groups updates/dlcs).

Btw, on usb it scans only the root directory (non-recursively). pkg/ directory on USB is scanned recursively.
On samba it should scan all subdirectories (i think 4-5 levels deep).

Thanks, that clarifies the USB behavior. And great work on PKG Manager btw — it’s a really useful tool, especially the SMB support!
In my case, I don’t keep PKGs on the SSD after installation to save space. The SSD only contains PFS/exFAT/ffpfsc/dump games. All my PKGs are stored permanently on my Synology NAS.
I’ll check how many distinct base titles I actually have vs updates/DLCs, and also check the folder depth on the NAS. Thanks again for your help and your work!

I can't connect to the local Samba server on a Win 11 PC; I'm getting the following error.

It's most likely Windows blocking guest logins.
It definitely works when you put in credentials - at least if you use a local account (haven't tested on "Microsoft Account" with hello login stuff)

I'm having the same issue, but with guest account and folder shared with "everybody"

I've also tried using my local account, but my local has no password and is not using hello login stuff, so I just entered my username without password, no luck

It works with Redfish, and connects and i can see/install packages, but problem is that redfish is crashing and I've not yet tested any alternative samba servers for Windows

My "everybody" share is available and working in for example VLC for android with "auto discovery" so if its possible it would be great if you could add like discover samba shares on current LAN and then add it

Creating a local user with a password using net user <user> <password> /add helped.

do you have plan of make a file explorer? I like your Ui design (pldmgr, autoload etc) it would be amazing to have a file explorer like this. And Full Screen App, Something like the PS5 file Xplorer, but with more functions and Better UI design (PS5 xplorer is very ugly lol). So thank you for share this project with us (the community).

Hi! Great job! but I couldn't connect to my server samba under Windows 11, it always shows error connection.
The server is set no user and password needed and I added permissons to everybody as readonly, As detail I can connect from my mobil using application x-plote so this confirm is ok my server samba

Current workaround for Win 11 is to use samba with credentials.
If you use a Microsoft Account, it's probably easiest to create a local account for that: #1 (reply in thread)

Loving your work, Been using it the past few days and I really like it although I noticed some of my PKG files are showing arabic names instead of english. Seems to be a bug....

The app pulls the title from param.json inside the PKG with a naive string search for "titleName".
It is grabbing the first occurrence in the file.
My Marvel Spiderman pkg / PS5 param.json looks like this:

ar-AE sorts first alphabetically,
So on any game with Arabic localisation the first "titleName" hit is the Arabic one.
Games without an ar-AE entry show fine (first hit is usually de-DE or en-US, which is why you mostly see English).
The top-level titleName and defaultLanguage are ignored entirely.

I also noticed it's not showing my ps5 DLC PKG's?
Only my ps4 PKG's

Can confirm had the same issue with arabic title on sm2, even though everything else was English it was in debug popup, web ui etc

Quick question - I am runnnig out of space on my internal SSD and I have just installed a M.2 drive
How can I force PKG Manager to install the PKG on my M.2?
There is a native setting in the PS5 menu to set M2 as the standard drive for game installs.
Does PKG Manager take that into account or does it default to the internal SSD only?

I've tested only with internal ssd.

Try installing something with that ps5 setting set to external.
It currently checks for free space on internal drive though - so in current version it won't even let you start the install if you don't have enough space on the internal drive.
