Veo 2.1 — Recovery and release history

Choose a tag to compare

@itsasheruwu itsasheruwu released this 03 Sep 21:43

Veo 2.1 makes failures recoverable, brings release history into the app, and tightens the workspace around the composer, timeline, and model picker.

What’s new

  • Recovery that keeps your context — Retry queued work after Veo refreshes the task, or restore a failed message and its attachments to the composer before sending again. Recovery actions can also reload models or chats, reconnect the local runtime, and open the relevant settings.
  • Release history inside Veo — Settings → Updates now renders GitHub release notes with readable Markdown, dates, a fixed-height history, timeline jump controls, and version labels on hover.
  • A calmer workspace — Adaptive composer clearance, turn dividers, a useful search empty state, cleaner sidebar selection and project picking, clearer access controls, and Reduce Motion-aware animation.
  • Distinct GPT-5.6 identities — Sol, Terra, and Luna carry sun, globe, and moon marks. Auto combines all three in a compact cluster while Fast mode keeps its independent bolt.
  • Local builds without provisioning — Release packaging uses manual ad-hoc signing without requesting an unsupported passkey entitlement. Keychain password AutoFill remains available.

Install

  • Open Veo-2.1-macOS-universal.dmg and drag Veo to Applications, or run the PKG installer.
  • Veo requires macOS 14 or later and a locally installed, authenticated Codex CLI.

Veo 2.0 — The workspace release

Choose a tag to compare

@itsasheruwu itsasheruwu released this 20 Aug 04:44

Veo 2.0

Veo 2.0 is the biggest step forward yet: the chat window has grown into a complete local workspace for planning, deciding, building, and running on your Mac.

The headline features

  • Plans that become implementation. Generate durable plan documents, edit them in place, track their lifecycle, and hand them directly into the current task or a fresh one.
  • Questions without context switching. Codex request-user-input prompts now appear as polished inline cards with choices, notes, skip controls, receipts, and blocking-state handling.
  • A real terminal workspace. Move from a docked shell into a full-screen multi-session terminal with split panes, layouts, resizing, rearranging, keyboard shortcuts, and sessions that survive hiding the panel.
  • A more expressive model control. Choose the model, reasoning effort, and speed from the new advanced picker, backed by live catalog metadata.
  • Utility-model vision fallback. When the selected coding model does not support vision input, Veo automatically uses the configured Utility model to privately analyze attachments, then passes only bounded visual context into the turn.
  • Richer live work. Image groups, viewed-image surfaces, smoother streamed Markdown, scoped activity, live subagent details, and more efficient app-server parsing make long turns easier to follow.

Install

Download the universal DMG and drag Veo to Applications, or use the PKG installer. Veo 2.0 supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later and requires a locally installed Codex CLI.

SHA-256

  • DMG: 8908b912a7618daf800b9938681ab857669f3593a7edc11713e72ae65c9a86eb
  • PKG: 872828d96499a530c9c8f22fed564aa1407379cc110ae55f1b997720be75f0d5

The app inside the DMG is ad-hoc signed and the PKG is unsigned, matching Veo current open-source distribution model.

Veo 1.9

Choose a tag to compare

@itsasheruwu itsasheruwu released this 16 Aug 00:25

Veo 1.9 introduces native GPT-5.6 Auto routing, explicit interaction modes, live delegated-work visibility, durable usage-limit continuation, and broad runtime and interface performance improvements.

Highlights

  • GPT-5.6 Auto routing: Coordinates Sol, Luna, and Terra across planning, implementation, escalation, verification, and independent review, with explicit fallbacks when a route is unavailable.
  • Agentic, Plan, and Debug modes: Adds purpose-built composer modes with per-thread persistence and backward-compatible migration from the previous Plan-mode preference.
  • Live workflow and subagent visibility: Reports plan progress, changed files, Auto workflow stages, review verdicts, and active subagents. A dedicated Subagents utility tab provides summaries and item-scoped transcripts.
  • Durable usage-limit continuation: Stores interrupted turns locally and resumes them after the runtime-reported reset window, either on the next launch or through the optional macOS Login Item helper.
  • Runtime and interface performance: Coalesces timeline deltas, bounds terminal and runtime diagnostics, moves file operations off the main thread, reuses minimap work, stabilizes streamed Markdown and image identities, and tightens inference lifecycle cleanup.

Installation

Download the DMG and drag Veo to Applications, or use the PKG for a standard installer flow. Veo requires macOS 14 or later and a locally installed, authenticated Codex CLI.

These binaries are ad-hoc signed for integrity but are not notarized with an Apple Developer ID. On first launch, macOS may require you to use Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
