SafeBrowse v0.1.0 — Public preview

SafeBrowse's first public preview is a free Windows browser for the browsing moments you do not want to share during streams, screen shares and live demos.

Download SafeBrowse-Setup-0.1.0-x64.exe below. It installs for your Windows account, checks Microsoft WebView2, and offers an optional desktop shortcut. Internet is needed when the runtime must be installed or updated.

Included in this preview:

• Capture exclusion for SafeBrowse's own windows through supported Windows capture APIs.
• A separate browsing desktop, temporary sessions, tabs, bookmarks and a movable on-screen keyboard.
• Permission and download controls, optional printing, and uninstall choices for settings and browsing data.
• Console-free launching, visible error dialogs, GitHub support/update links and third-party license notices.
• A fix for moving the browser between monitors arranged above or below each other.

Unsigned preview: Windows may warn about an unrecognised app. SHA256SUMS.txt verifies the download's file hash; provenance.json records the committed source and build inputs. This locally built installer is not Authenticode-signed or GitHub-attested.

Local verification: 164 Rust tests passed (4 ignored), 21 Node tests passed, 11 isolated installer scenarios passed, formatting/Clippy passed, and the Windows-filtered dependency audit reported no applicable findings. The maintainer reports successful capture exclusion with OBS and Windows screen recording. Capture support varies by recorder and mode; verify your actual setup using disposable content. Google Meet, physical mixed-DPI/hot-plug setups and WebView2 installation on a clean machine still need broader testing.

Normal mode switches the active desktop across all connected displays while the browser occupies one monitor. Windows chooses the initial display. SafeBrowse does not redact other apps or protect a compromised Windows account.
